ALL STARS INVADE ELDORA OCT 4
ROSSBURG, Ohio (Sept .23) -- Over the past several years, Kenny Jacobs
has
pretty much dominated the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint scene at
Eldora Speedway, but Chad Kemenah is quickly correcting that. After winning
the Eldora Anniversary race in June, Kemenah, who has wrapped up the series
points crown, is looking to repeat that win and put an exclamation point
on
the end of his season on Saturday night Oct. 4.
Of the 112 All Star events completed on Eldora’s one-half mile
clay oval
since 1981, Jacobs has compiled an impressive 21 wins, while Kemenah has
three to his credit. With a win in 2001 and another last season, Kemenah
has
earmarked himself as a genuine contender whenever the All Stars invade
Eldora.
Jacobs, meanwhile, hopes to swing the momentum back into his direction.
Last
year’s winless spell broke a string of seven straight years that
found him
sitting in Eldora’s hallowed victory lane. Jacobs has been on a
hot streak
recently, with a win at Lawrenceburg and several other top five All Star
finishes.
While much of the focus will be directed towards Jacobs and Kemenah,
another
driver that is hungry to return to the winner’s circle is Greg Wilson.
Wilson racked up two All Star wins in 2001, but failed to grab the checkered
here last season.
With the points crown wrapped up by Kemenah, second and third in the
final
standings will go to Jason Johnson and Dean Jacobs, but positions four
through six are still up in the air. Eldora’s season final for the
All Stars
will be the last chance to gain valuable points among drivers Ryan Coniam,
Jeff Shepard and Wilson. The trio is separated by only 15 points and
Saturday will tell the tale in the final point standings and determine
the
amount on points fund check that awaits at the end of the season.
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Mercer Raceway Park - Sat.
9/20/03
By Scott Hall
MERCER, PA – Dale Blaney’s misfortune was Ed Lynch, Jr.’s
gain
Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park in the Haulmark All Star sprint
car 40
lap Chuck Marsh Memorial feature. Blaney had a tire going down under a
late
race caution, forcing him pitside while leading with only three laps
remaining, handing the lead and win to Lynch.
With his fourth place finish, Chad Kemenah clinched his second
consecutive All Star points championship.
“Dale was faster, and he had a low tire when he came by me and he
was
going to be fine as long as the tire was low. On the last caution it was
flat and I know he wanted to run. If he could have run on three wheels
I
think he would have tried,” Lynch said in victory lane. “A
little bit of
luck while running second…that’s when you have to take advantage
of somebody
else’s bad luck,” he added after his sixth career All Star
win. He becomes
the 21st different All Star winner this season in the Lynch Racing J&J
with
Kistler power.
Lynch and Mark Smith started the race from the front row with Smith’s
Zemco machine taking the initial lead with Lynch second and Blaney third.
On
the sixth lap Lynch dove under Smith in turn two to take the lead, and
Blaney also applied heavy pressure to Smith. A lap later Blaney was in
second, with Lynch in his sights. As Lynch entered lapped traffic, Blaney
began moving through the lapped cars and finally was right on Lynch’s
back
bumper. Lap 13 was unlucky for Blaney as he dove hard under the leader
in
turn two and hit the inside berm of the racetrack, getting sideways and
losing a lot of ground to Lynch. Blaney gathered his car back in, holding
off Jason Johnson for third.
Lynch was again cruising along in the lead, with Blaney slowly reeling
him back in. A Smith spin on lap 22 slowed the action just as Blaney passed
Lynch for the lead, with the caution flag nullifying the pass. The running
order was now Lynch, Blaney, Johnson, Jeff Shepard, Kenny Jacobs and
Kemenah. Lynch bobbled on the backstretch following the restart, allowing
Blaney to shoot by into the lead. Blaney began motoring away from Lynch
as
Jacobs was on the move forward, passing Shepard for fourth on lap 27.
Shepard got past Jacobs again and the pair began a torrid duel for third,
which lasted for 10 circuits. On lap 37 Shepard ran into the lapped car
of
Gary Kreiss, who slid right in front of him, leaving Shepard no where
to go.
Shepard’s front end was broken, forcing him pitside.
Drama began to unfold under caution as the leader Blaney knew his rear
tire was low, and he began to spin his tires to try to keep the air pressure
up. However, All Star officials sent Blaney to the pits for a tire change,
citing safety reasons. This handed the lead back to Lynch for the restart,
and Lynch motored away for an easy win over Jacobs, Johnson and Kemenah.
“I had a pretty good car in the middle of the race and I used up
my tire
and my motor is absolutely burnt. In the race it got so hot it would hardly
run and that last yellow cooled it back down. Jason had brake trouble
or I
probably would not have got past him,” said Jacobs, the pilot of
Pete
Grove’s No. 70 J&J.
“We lost a right rear brake about half way through, so I was just
kind
of rolling around trying to stay out of trouble. We just did the best
we
could,” Johnson, the pilot of Al Harrison’s No. 22, stated
after his third
place run.
Kemenah was fourth and last place starter Scott Bonnell ran a steady race
to come home fifth with Rod George sixth, ahead of Chad Blonde, Erin
Crocker, Byron Reed and Blaney, who came from the tail after the tire
change
for tenth.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Rod George, the B&B Products heat went
to
Ralph Spithaler, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Gary Kreiss
Jr.
and the TP Wings heat fell to Dale Blaney. Shepard won the United Aluminum
Window Sales & Consulting B Main and Kenny Jacobs captured the Haulmark
Dash. Erin Crocker was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier with a new
track
record of 12.886 seconds, breaking the year old mark of Kenny Jacobs at
13.292. Crocker also holds the Mercer 360 track record. Ryan Coniam crashed
hard on his second time trial lap and pulled out his backup car, forcing
him
to the rear of the lineup for the B Main.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - Lawrenceburg Speedway - Sat. 9/13/03
By Scott Hall
LAWRENCEBURG, IN - Dale Blaney held off Dean and Kenny Jacobs Saturday
night at the Lawrenceburg Speedway to win the Haulmark All Star sprint
car
50 lap Hoosier Fall Classic feature. The 21st annual event paid $12,000
to
win to 15th starting Blaney for his second Lawrenceburg triumph of 2003
in
the Fritz Andrews Maxim with Fisher power.
"We didn't have a great time trial run, I felt like I let my guys
down a
little bit, maybe I really didn't push it as hard as I should have, so
I
told them I had 50 laps to make up for it," Blaney stated in victory
lane.
"The car was great, I could run anywhere. It all just worked out
for us.
We're awful glad to get a win here," Blaney concluded after recording
his
fourth win of the season in the Troyer Trail Bologna, Youngstown Harley
Davidson machine.
Jason Johnson and Rob Chaney started from the front row for the 12 and
½
mile contest with Johnson leading the first go round and Chaney leading
on
lap two. Action was slowed by a red on lap five when fourth running Jeremy
Campbell got sideways and collected fifth place Kelly Kinser with Kinser
ending up standing on his tail alongside Campbell. Chaney pulled away
again
following the restart, but Reed moved back in on his bumper followed by
Kenny Jacobs and 12th starter Kraig Kinser. Kinser was third on lap 11
and
second on lap 13 as the leader entered lapped traffic. A lap later Kinser
went low on the backstretch to pass Chaney for the lead.
Kinser led into lapped traffic and was running the bottom groove to
perfection, motoring easily away from the rest of the pack. Then disaster
struck Kinser on lap 27 as he bumped an infield tire, breaking the left
front suspension on the Delco Remy No. 11. Kinser was forced to retire,
handing the lead to Reed. Reed led K. Jacobs, Blaney, Johnson, Greg Wilson
and Jeff Shepard to the green for the restart, but just one circuit later
Blaney took command with a low move off turn four. From that point on
it was
Blaney in the lead, with a fierce battle among Reed and K. Jacobs for
second.
As the laps wound down K. Jacobs secured second with Reed comfortably
in
third. With five laps to go and Blaney once again in lapped traffic, D.
Jacobs was on the move forward and took third from a fading Reed on lap
47.
Dean went to the low groove to pass his brother for second on the last
lap
and that's how they finished.
"I had a good race car and running on the bottom seems to work real
good
for me here. We still didn't have our best motor in so second was pretty
good tonight," Dean Jacobs recalled afterward.
"I needed a couple breaks with lapped cars. We had a better race
car on
the top that anyone else but it just didn't work out. I couldn't get clear
of Dale to get on top and take off," a disappointed Kenny Jacobs
said of his
third place run.
Johnson finished fourth with ninth starting Shepard fifth. Reed held on
to sixth, followed by All Star points leader Kemenah, who started 11th.
Greg
Wilson ended up eighth ahead of last row starter Chad Blonde and Brock
Mayes.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Marc Jessup in his second career winged
race, the B&B Products heat went to Erin Crocker, the Engler Machine
and
Tool heat was won by Nick Naber and the TP Wings heat fell to Ryan Coniam.
Spud Gustin won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main. United Aluminum Window
Sales & Consulting B Main. Byron Reed captured the Haulmark Dash.
Greg
Wilson was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier earning a leather jacket,
courtesy of Tri-State Outlook.
Race fans Amanda Puckett and David Dalton were married on the
frontstretch in a pre-race ceremony.

With his seventh place finish in the feature, Chad Kemenah has all but
wrapped up the 2003 All Star points title. All Kemenah has to do is sign
in
and receive his show-up points at the final five All Star events to clinch
his second consecutive crown. His lead over Jason Johnson is currently

"It's been a down season," Jacobs stated from victory lane.
"I can't
believe it's been so long since I won a race. I was starting to give up
hope. We were going to run second in this race but Jeremy had trouble
coming
off four and it opened the door for us. I just had to hit my lines just
right and stay ahead of him. He had an awful fast racecar." The win
was the
97th of his career for Jacobs and his first since June 8, 2002. Jacobs
also
revealed he does not have a ride lined up for next season as his deal
with
current owner Pete Grove ends when the All Star season is complete.
Jacobs started from the pole with Jeff Shepard alongside. Jacobs grabbed
the initial lead with Shepard second until Jason Johnson went under Shepard
for second on lap three. Campbell, meanwhile, started sixth in his own
Maxim
and passed Johnson for second on lap seven. Johnson and Campbell traded
second behind Jacobs for then next three laps. Jacobs entered lapped
traffic, and Johnson, now second, went to the low groove going down the
backstretch to grab the lead on lap ten. That left Campbell and Jacobs
to
battle for second with Campbell finally prevailing for that spot by lap
20.
Todd Kane was really on the move now and was battling Jacobs for third
when
a caution appeared, nullifying his third place pass. That caution was
for
the leader Johnson who was in heavy lapped traffic in Al Harrison's No.
22
and ran into turn three too hard and spun, costing him the lead. This
put
Campbell into the number one spot for the restart over Jacobs, Shepard,
Todd
Kane, up from 18th starting spot and Curt Trainer. Campbell led through
another restart for Kraig Kinser, who spun out of fifth place. Campbell
was
fast and jumped out to a nice lead over Jacobs again until he jumped the
cushion coming off turn four, allowing Jacobs to take over the lead for
the
rest of the race. Campbell ended up second with Shepard third.
"I had it but that last restart going over that bump messed me up.
I
messed up and you can't do anything about it," Campbell recalled
of his
second place finish.
"I had something go wrong with my engine," Shepard revealed
after
finishing third. "Something was grinding there at the end. But that
wasn't
the reason we didn't win. Kenny did a great job and Jeremy got off the
racetrack. But we'll take third, it could have been a lot worse."
Greg Wilson stated 11th and ended up fourth ahead of Kane, Kemenah, who
started 16th, Trainer, Terry McCarl and Busch.
The Crown Battery heat fell to John Ivy, the B&B Products heat went
to
Todd Kane, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Kraig Kinser and
the

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - Fremont Speedway - Sat. 9/6/03
By Scott Hall
FREMONT, OH - Jeff Shepard and Dale Blaney traded the lead four times
Saturday night at Fremont Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car
50
lap feature. But at the end Blaney ran out of fuel and Chad Kemenah passed
Shepard to lead the final five laps and record the $10,000 win in front
of a
standing room only crowd. It was Kemenah's fifth win of the year in the
Jim
Harble UUI American Augers Hyundai Equipment Eagle with Kistler power.
"It was a really good racetrack and Jeff drove a good race, "Kemenah
recalled. "It was real close. And I found out a week ago I'm going
to be a
dad so this is real great week," he added. "I just like to run
around the
top of this place and put on a good show for the fans."
Rob Chaney and Blaney made up the front row for the start with Shepard
starting in eighth. Blaney grabbed the lead at the start with Chaney second
and fourth starter Mike Linder third. Chaney and Linder battled behind
Blaney, with Chaney keeping second as Shepard passed a car a lap to move
into fourth by lap nine. Shepard kept the pressure on Linder and dove
low
under Linder for third on lap 12. Now Kemenah set his sights on Linder
and
the pair ran side by side from laps 15 to 18. Meanwhile Shepard reeled
in
Blaney in lapped traffic, and took the lead low off turn two on lap 19.
Following a restart, Blaney kept the pressure on Shepard, and retook the
lead on lap 23. Kemenah now had moved to third ahead of Chaney and Linder.
Blaney led through another restart and Kemenah kept the pressure on, taking
second from Shepard on lap 27. Kemenah was inching up on the leader and
by
lap 32 it was a two car race. Blaney led, with Kemenah chasing him. In
lapped traffic again, Shepard ducked under Kemenah to regain second and
the
Maryland driver was really on the move, and he retook the top spot on
lap 37
with a low backstretch move under Blaney. As Chaney's tires heated up
he was
on the move forward, and he passed Kemenah for third just before another
caution flew.
At the yellow on lap 42, the running order was Shepard, Blaney, Chaney,
Kemenah, Linder, Kinser and Byron Reed. Three laps were run under green
before runnerup Blaney stopped on the backstretch, out of fuel. His crew
tried to get him refueled and back out, but it was too late and he was
forced to go pit side. This moved Kemenah back into second ahead of Chaney,
Linder, Kinser, Reed and Brandon Wimmer. Kemenah drove to the high groove
after the green reappeared to take the lead from Shepard, and once in
front
the pulled away for the win as Shepard's tank ran dry after the checkered
flew. Chaney ended up third.
"Our car was good but I ran out of gas at the end, that's three quarters
of the reason we didn't win the race," Shepard lamented. "Scott
Benic helped
us tonight and our car was awesome."
"My car was really good on the long runs and I told my guys without
these
cautions I had a shot at it," Chaney stated of his third place finish.
"I'm
just happy we ran third. This is a big finish for this team."
Reed was fourth after starting 15th, ahead of Linder, Kinser, Wimmer,
20th starter Jason Johnson and Greg Wilson. Wilson flipped in his heat
and
missed the transfer to the feature by one position in the B Main, so he
moved to the Andy James machine for the feature, starting in the 24th
spot.
Kenny Jacobs started 18th and finished tenth.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Kenny Jacobs, the B&B Products heat
and
Haulmark Dash went to Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won
by
Kraig Kinser and the TP Wings heat fell to Jason Johnson. Shane Helms
captured the last chance race and Ed Neumeister won the Outerwears
Pre-filters C Main. The United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting
B Main was
won by Mark Keegan and Kelly Kinser was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier
over a 53 car field.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - K-C Raceway - Fri. 9/5/03
By Scott Hall
ALMA, OH - Greg Wilson scored an exciting third win of the year Friday
night at K-C Raceway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car Sam Erwin Memorial
40 lap feature. Wilson had to hold off a hard charging Kraig Kinser for
the
$5,000 payday in Bob Hampshire's No. 63. Kenny Jacobs ended up third after
a
hard battle with the youthful Kinser.
"It's nice to come here to K-C and win. It's one of the greatest
tracks
in the country," Wilson exclaimed. "I want to thank Bob Hampshire
for a
great race team and an awesome engine and a great Maxim Chassis and American
Race Tires. It's just great to be standing in victory lane at K-C."
"I needed to get through lapped traffic a lot quicker," runnerup
Kinser
revealed. "I couldn't get a good enough run down the straightaway
to get
under him (Wilson) in the turns. I wish I would have won, but we'll take
second."
"I think I needed to get the lead on the start," third place
Jacobs
stated. "I tore my right rear tire clear off trying to race with
these guys.
I think I could have run a bit smoother line if I had been out front.
I
didn't get the lead on the start and Greg had an awful nice car all night
long so I had to run harder and it tore the tires off."
Kinser had the pole for the start with Jacobs alongside, ahead of Wilson
and Jeremy Campbell. Jeff Shepard and Chad Kemenah made up row three.
Following an aborted start which saw Jacobs lead into turn one, Kinser
took
the lead when the green fell again over Jacobs and Wilson. Wilson got
past
Jacobs for second on the fifth circuit, but Jacobs battled back and was
side
by side with Wilson on lap 11 when another caution appeared for a spin
by
fourth place Campbell. Kinser still led over Wilson, Jacobs and Kemenah
when
the green reappeared and Kinser pulled away from Wilson a bit on an open
track, but once in lapped traffic, Wilson closed back in on the leader.
Lap
after lap, Kinser held a slim margin over Wilson through dense lapped
traffic. Finally, on lap 27 Wilson had enough momentum driving high off
turn
four to squeeze between Kinser and the concrete wall to snare the lead
at
the start finish line. Jacobs was still running third with Kemenah fourth
and Dale Blaney fifth after starting 16th.
Wilson motored away from Kinser following a lap 27 restart, with Jacobs
in third pressuring Kinser. As Wilson began stretching his lead, Jacobs
kept
heavy pressure on Kinser. Lap 33 saw Blaney stop on the track with a flat,
sending him from fifth to the rear of the field. Kinser got beside Wilson
on
that restart, but Wilson, in the high groove, was able to maintain his
lead.
Lap 36 saw another caution, this time for Jason Johnson. Johnson was back
up
to ninth after restarting on the tail on lap four, and he ran off the
track
on turn three to cause the yellow. At this point, the event was red flagged
for a fuel stop.
For the four lap dash to the finish, it was Wilson, Kinser, Jacobs,
Kemenah, Shepard and Kelly Kinser. Kraig Kinser tried a slide job and
got
alongside Wilson when the green appeared, but he did not have enough
momentum to get by. So Wilson motored away to win by five car lengths
over
Kinser's Delco-Remy machine and Jacobs in the Pete Grove No. 70. Points
leader Kemenah was fourth with Kelly Kinser fighting his way back to fifth
after going to the rear on lap four. Shepard was sixth ahead of John Ivy,
up
from 11th, utilizing a front anti-roll bar on his Carousel Racing No.
20.
Dean Jacobs in Dino the Dinosaur trim was eighth ahead of Jimmy Stinson
and
Rob Chaney.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Kemenah, the B&B Products heat went
to
Butch Schroeder, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Kelly Kinser
and the TP Wings heat fell to John Ivy. Jimmy Stinson won the United
Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main. Kemenah captured the Haulmark
Dash and was also the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.

ERIN CROCKER TO RACE WITH ALL STARS FRI-SAT
SAM ERWIN MEMORIAL SLATED FOR K-C RACEWAY
CHILLICOTHE, OH (9/3/03) - Knoxville Nationals Rookie-of-the-year Erin
Crocker will be in competition with the Haulmark All Star Circuit of
Champions sprint cars this weekend Friday and Saturday Sept. 5 and 6 at
K-C
Raceway and Fremont Speedway. Crocker, aboard the Mike Woodring No. 16c,
made her All Star debut last weekend at Lernerville Speedway and put her
machine solidly in the field for the rain-delayed feature. The Massachusetts
driver, fast becoming a fan favorite, will challenge the All Star regulars
on the high banks of K-C Raceway Friday and go for the big $10,000 prize
at
Fremont Saturday.
A total of $5,000 to win is on the line Friday, September 5
for the stars and cars of the Haulmark All Star sprint car series. Action
returns to Jim Nier's K-C Raceway near Chillicothe, OH for a Friday night
Sept. 5 kick-off to a two-day Ohio racing weekend as K-C honors a fallen
hero, Portsmouth, Ohio driver Sam Erwin who was fatally injured at the
track
thirty years ago in 1973. Additionally, former sprint car great and now
TNN racing
analyst Brad Doty will appear at K-C Friday for an autograph session.
Saturday's action moves north to the Fremont Speedway for a
special 50 lap race paying $10,000 to win. K-C's event is a standard $5,000
to win All Star winner's share.
Sam Erwin was one of the first drivers at the track and one of the last
ones to leave, always flashing a smile and offering an autograph to racing
fans
who came to the track early or left the track late. Erwin won many races
at the
then Atomic Speedway (now K-C Raceway) and at Skyline Speedway in Stewart,
Ohio.
Driving the #710 Supermodified open wheeler, the jovial and personable
driver also raced at many other tracks across the United States. A dirt
track
specialist, Erwin was not afraid to try the asphalt as well, racing at
paved Speedways
as New Bremen, Ohio and Heidleberg, Pennsylvania.
In his last couple seasons, Erwin traded in his supermodified "White
Lightnin' Express" for a state-of-the-art Bobby Allen sprinter also
numbered
710.
Using a white suburban panel truck as a tow rig and an open trailer, Erwin's
racing days seem far removed from today's fancy transporters, yet Erwin
is close to
many racing fans hearts still today.
Friday night K-C Raceway will pay tribute to this likeable, talented
driver.
KC will have a special guest, Brad Doty. Brad will be signing
autographs for the fans along with the top 5 All Star drivers in points.
The autograph
session will be at the front gate from 4:30 to 5:30. Brad will also be
at
Ricart Ford of Chillicothe Thursday September 4, 2003 from 3pm to 6pm.
K-C has managed to defeat Mother Nature once to get a single All
Star show in the books this season, with Dale Blaney winning the July
Ohio
Speedweek event. All-Star regular Jason Johnson of Shreve, Louisiana also
won a non-sanctioned race this spring.
"America's Series, The All Star Circuit of Champions" will present
a
slate of 50 sprint car race dates in 2003 from February to October in
action at 31 speedways in 17 states. America's favorite dirt track series
has presented fans with the largest average car count and greatest number
of
different race winners in the United States since 1980.
K-C Raceway is south of Chillicothe on SR 23, two miles out Blain
Highway at Alma. For further track information, call 740-663-4141 or visit
the K-C website at www.kc-raceway.com.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - Attica Raceway Park - Sat. 8/30/03
By Scott Hall
ATTICA, OH - Greg Wilson held off furious charges by John Ivy and
Jason Johnson Saturday night at Attica Raceway Park to win the Haulmark
All
Star sprint car 30 lap feature. The Attica Ambush preliminary race was
sponsored by Budweiser and it was Wilson's second victory of the season,
both coming at Attica in Bob Hampshire's Maxim Chassis with Hampshire
power
under the hood.
"Man, it's nice to be at Attica," Wilson exclaimed from victory
lane.
"Running around under caution I thought 'man you were good on the
bottom,
just keep being patient and go down there.' I knew those guys were back
there and figured I could block for two laps maybe we could get a win."
For the start it was Jeff Shepard and Rob Chaney on the front row with
Byron Reed and Wilson in row two ahead of Ivy and Chad Kemenah. Chaney
shot
into the initial lead over Wilson and Reed. Chaney ran the high groove
and
Wilson kept the pressure on in the low groove, pulling alongside Chaney
following an early restart, but he could not make the pass stick. Then,
following a lap nine restart, Wilson was really working good in the low
groove and kept even with Chaney. Lap after lap Wilson kept the pressure
on
the leader, and finally got a good run on the bottom on lap 12 to snare
the
lead coming off turn four.
Through the middle parts of the race, Wilson kept a three or four car
length advantage over a great battle behind him among Chaney, Ivy, Shepard
and Johnson. A lap 17 caution, the final slowdown of the race, saw the
running order Wilson, Chaney, Johnson, Ivy and Shepard. Ivy and Johnson
traded spots three times in the next five laps, with Johnson taking over
second on lap 23. Johnson began running down Wilson and they were nose
to
tail with three laps to go. But Ivy had other ideas and stuck his nose
into
the battle, taking second on lap 28. Johnson tried the high groove with
bold
moves banging off the cushion the last two laps but was forced to settle
for
third behind Ivy.
"I was hoping He (Wilson) would stay up top," Ivy recalled after
finishing second. "I was better than him on the bottom. We made him
race for
it and didn't hand it to him. The boys had her dialed in tonight for me.
It
was fun, I had a ball."
"I was racing the racetrack, I wasn't racing the racecars,"
Johnson said
after finishing third. "And I was going by everybody. The top line
was
working for me and I saw the five to go sign and I had a brain fade and
got
to racing the cars instead of the track and I got off my line. But we
tried
our best."
Chaney was fourth with Shepard fifth ahead of Chad Blonde, Kenny Jacobs,
Mike Linder, Stevie Smith and Kraig Kinser.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Jeff Shepard, the B&B Products heat
went
to Jason Johnson, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Stevie Smith
and the TP Wings heat fell to Kyle Sauder. Keith Baxter won the Outerwears
Pre-filters C Main and Chad Blonde won the United Aluminum Window Sales
&
Consulting B Main. Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier. Bill
Rose flipped in his heat race, forcing him to scratch for the rest of
the
program.
In limited late model action it was Larry Kingseed the victor over Jeff
McCoy.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - Tulsa Speedway - Sat. 8/23/03
By John Rittenoure
TULSA, OK. (August 23, 2003) - Brooke Tatnell locked up the O'Reilly/NCRA
Outlaw Sprint series championship the best way he knew how Saturday at
Tulsa
Speedway. Tatnell won the All Star/NCRA Thunder through the Plains IX
season
finale to give car owner Court Grandstaff and Phillips Trop Artic 66 their
second straight NCRA title.
Tatnell got around Jeff Shepard on lap seven for the lead then led the
field
through lapped traffic over the next 23 laps to win for the second time
this
season. However Tatnell was called for jumping from his pole position
on the
start and had to come from the inside second row next to Dean Jacobs,
who
also was put back, for the win.
"It was unfortunate that Dean and I were put back a row,"
said Tatnell
afterwards in victory lane. "You go to races everywhere else in the
world
and get a car width from the white line and it is ok. With the All Stars,
I
don't know what their deal is. When you race with someone just part of
the
time it is hard to know what the rules are."
That did not stop Tatnell from dominating after catching Shepard for
the
lead.
"It was so slow around the bottom and you can't take a chance of
getting
out of line," said Tatnell who ran the low groove to victory. "I
just sat
there waiting for Jeff to get into lapped traffic and that is all I had
to
do. There were no other options to pass him."
Tatnell led the opening lap before yellow for Joe Bustillos who spun.
After
being put back Shepard set the pace over Tatnell and Jonathan Allard.
The
race was then stopped on lap four after Jan Howard flipped in turn four.
Shepard continued to lead on the restart but Tatnell closed in and took
the
lead entering turn one seven laps later. From that point on it was just
a
matter of getting through lapped traffic quickly.
"Once I got the lead I just slowed the pace down," Tatnell
said.
"Following Jeff I was probably fifteen miles an hour faster then
when I was
in front of him. I just slowed down and caught the moisture down the front
straightaway. If you did that no one was going to pass you."
Shepard settled for second after 30 laps. Shane Stewart charged into
third
on lap eight but could not mount a challenge on Shepard. Jason Johnson
ran
fourth and Dean Jacobs picked up fifth to finish second in points.
Car owner Court Grandstaff was happy to have another championship to
show
for a years effort.
"The second one is just as nice as the first one," smiled Grandstaff.
"We
knew when we started we had pretty much won it, but winning the race makes
it just that much better.
"The Gaerte engine has been unbelievable. I want to thank them and
especially Phillips 66 Trop Artic. It takes everybody. My wife Sarah has
been with me the last three weekends and we got home at 5 this morning.
She
was wore out. I wish she could have been here tonight."
Joe Landon president of American Bank of Oklahoma with branches in
Collinsville and Skiatook presented $250 each to two random finishes in
A
feature and $250 to the hard charger. Cash winners were 14th Sean Walden,
24th Jan Howard and Chad Kemenah hard charger.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - 81 Speedway - Fri. 8/22/03
By Scott Hall
WICHITA, KS - Jason Johnson garnered his fifth win of 2003 Friday
night at 81 Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car-NCRA 30 lap
feature. Johnson, aboard the Harrison Trucking machine, took over the
lead
from Shane Stewart and led the final four circuits to victory lane. It
was
almost a clean sweep for Johnson who set fast time, won the Haulmark Dash
but came home second in his heat race.
Johnson said from victory lane, "I just can't thank Al Harrison enough,
giving me the opportunity to drive the HTI number 22. We got a lot of
great
sponsors, everybody's doing a great job and it's a helluva lotta fun.
Shane
was real good at the beginning and a lot of times you can burn your tires
up, I mean he did a real good job and its fun to race with Shane (Stewart),
he is one of the cleanest racers in the United States to race with."
Stewart
was the early leader and then running second in a great battle with Johnson,
but came up light at the scales at the end of the event and was
disqualified.
Polesitter Jeremy Campbell took the initial lead over Brooke Tatnell
before CJ Johnson spun in turn two on lap four, bringing out a yellow.
On
restart, fourth starter Stewart took the lead. After another restart on
lap
eight Jan Howard drove in turn one too deep and hit Campbell in the left
rear, popping his tire, sending a disappointed Campbell to the rear for
the
restart after a tire change.
With Stewart still in the lead, a lap 13 yellow turned to red for Dennis
Park and Luke Cranston as Park got upside down off turns three and four.
Park was okay with a sore back. During the red flag Dean Jacobs, Jeff
Shepard, Daron Clayton, Aaron Berryhill, Jonathan Allard and Bill Rose
all
change right rear tires due to tire wear on the abrasive surface.
The restart order was now Stewart, Tatnell, Johnson, Chad Kemenah and
Kenny Jacobs who started seventh. A lap later Travis Rilat moved past
Jacobs
for fifth as Ryan Coniam and Greg Wilson battled for seventh. By 18 Howard
went around the top of Coniam and K. Jacobs for sixth.
The yellows continued on lap 19 with Berryhill stopping on the track as
D. Jacobs went to the pits. On the restart Howard moved under Rilat for
fifth but another yellow flew for Clayton's slow tip over in turn four.
Clayton was able to restart. Then on lap 21 Johnson on the outside groove
moved to second in turns three and four. Another yellow came out on lap
23
for Berryhill into the turn four frontstretch fence but he came back out
after going to pits.
Action was heating up by lap 27 as Johnson drove around Stewart for the
lead, with the duo sliding each other back and forth for three laps. Action
again stopped on lap 28 for Wilson's flat, bringing out a two lap shootout
to the finish. Johnson now lead over Stewart, Kemenah, Rilat, Jacobs and
Shepard, who was on the move from the tail. Johnson lead the rest of the
way
to the checkered flag over Stewart, who was disqualified, putting Shepard
second over Kemenah, Tatnell, K. Jacobs and Ryan Coniam. Rilat was also
found light and disqualified
The Crown Battery heat fell to Travis Rilat, the B&B Products heat
went
to Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Aaron Berryhill
and
the TP Wings heat fell to CJ Johnson. Daron Clayton won the United Aluminum
Window Sales & Consulting B Main and Johnson captured the Haulmark

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - Mid-Nebraska Speedway - Wed. 8/20/03
By Scott Hall
DONIPHAN, NE - Just like last year, it was all Jeff Shepard Wednesday
night at Mid-Nebraska Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car Thunder
Through the Plains 30 lap feature. The event was co-sanctioned by the
NCRA
and paid Shepard, the driver of Denny Ashworth's No. 92, $5,000. Shepard,
from his outside front row starting spot, led all the way for his fourth
win
of the year on the All Star tour. Luckily, the checkered flag was waving
as
Shepard ran out of fuel on the last lap, then a wreck blocked the track
in
front of his coasting machine, with Shepard scored as the winner.
Shepard grabbed the opening lead from Rookie-of-the-year contender Ryan
Coniam and led Coniam, Jason Johnson, Jeremy Campbell and Terry McCarl
for
the first pair of circuits until Johnson took over second on lap three.
Chad
Kemenah grabbed fifth from McCarl during this lap also.
Lap seven was unlucky for Johnson as the runnerup was collected in a spin
by 16-year-old Chad Humston, making his first 410 sprint car start. This
put
Coniam back in second behind Shepard for the restart. The man on the move
now, in the high groove, was Greg Wilson, who started tenth in the Bob
Hampshire No. 63. He picked off McCarl for fifth on lap eight, and pulled
past Kemenah for fourth on lap 11. On lap 11 yellow the came out for Kenny
Jacobs stopped on the inside of turn two. He went pit side for work on
the
left rear of his machine and returned to the rear of the field. Wilson
was
the man to watch now as Shepard stretched his lead, also on the high side
of
the speedway. Wilson was third by lap 19, and on lap 22 took over second
from Coniam.
With five laps remaining, another yellow slowed the pace, putting Wilson
within striking range of the leader, who saw his half lap lead erased
by the
yellow. The restart order was Shepard, Wilson, Kemenah, Brooke Tatnell
and
Coniam. It was now a five lap shoot out for $5000 for Shepard and Wilson.
As
the white flag came out, Shepard slowed in turns one and two, out of fuel.
Wilson also slowed with a dry tank and loses second. But fortunately for
the
leaders off of turn four for the checkered Kevin Hulse and Chad Humston
get
together in front of the leaders and stop in the middle of the track.
No
yellow flags appeared as the checkered was waving and Shepard was declared
the victor! Kemenah was scored second over Tatnell, Wilson, Jeremy
Campbell, Coniam, McCarl, Johnson, Dean Jacobs and CJ Johnson.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Daron Clayton, the B&B Products heat
went
to CJ Johnson and the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Jan Howard

Jason Johnson captured the Haulmark Dash. Chad Kemenah was the Huggins
