Friday's Sedalia 360 Shootout Action Postponed by Rain

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - SEDALIA, Mo. (September 26, 2003) - Heavy
thunderstorms forced the postponement of Friday night's Sedalia 360 Shootout qualifying
action at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway, setting up a Sprint Car racing
doubleheader on Saturday.

Friday's qualifiers will now compete on Saturday afternoon. Gates open at
10:00 a.m. Saturday, with hot laps at 12:15 p.m. and racing at 1:00 p.m. The
top two finishers in the feature will join Thursday night's top duo, Shane
Stewart and Billy Alley, in the front two rows of Saturday night's $10,000-to-win,
$1,000-to-start Sedalia 360 Shootout finale.

The remainder of the approximately 70 cars will then try to make their way
into the main event in Saturday night's full racing program, which is slated to
get under way at 8:00 p.m.

Additonal information regarding the O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series
National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers
is available at www.ascsracing.com.

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - SEDALIA, Mo. (September 25, 2003) - Shane Stewart
fought off Nebraska's Billy Alley to top the opening round of the Sedalia 360
Shootout at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway Thursday night. The 20-lap triumph was
Stewart's seventh O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented
by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers feature victory
of the season.

"I knew Billy was gonna be tough to beat," Stewart commented in victory lane.
"I about lost it there in one and two with a couple of laps to go and was
afraid he might get me then, but then I found out he about did the same thing in
turn four a couple of laps earlier so we were alright. We've really been
clicking since the Knoxville Nationals and hopefully we can just keep it going,"
Stewart concluded.

After charging from sixth to win the second heat, Alley led the feature field
to the green flag, but it was outside front row starter Stewart jumping into
the early lead. Zach Chappell needed only one lap to advance from sixth to
third before a broken part in the right rear sent his bouncing machine into the
turn four guardrail on the second round, bringing out the red flag.

Stewart took off on the restart, with Alley matching his pace. Alley stalked
Stewart until lapped traffic came into play on the ninth round, with Alley
briefly closing on the leader's rear bumper before traffic worked to Stewart's
advantage. As traffic cleared on the 13th round, Stewart held a five
car-length edge over the Lincoln, NE, hotshoe.

With the lead duo more than a half lap ahead of the remainder of the field,
Alley began to cut into Stewart's lead and was poised to challenge for the
point when he jumped the cushion in turn four on the 16th round, losing several
car lengths. Stewart nearly lost the lead two rounds later however, when he got
loose in turns one and two on the 18th circuit. Stewart gathered it up and
was about to take the white flag when the race's final caution appeared for
Winged Outlaws Warrior champion Eric Schrock, whose disabled mount coasted to a
stop in turn four.

Stewart survived the two-lap dash to the checkered flag to score a narrow
victory aboard Scott Chilcutt's Wesmar-powered Sander Engineering/Express
Transit/Pro Lube Center Maxim. Alley posted a strong second place run in the
Wesmar-powered Buss Excavating Eagle, securing the second and final transfer spot to
Saturday night's $10,000-to-win finale.

Chuck Swenson ran strong throughout, holding off a host of challengers to
snare the show position. Clint Garner posted a solid fourth place finish, while
current O'Reilly ASCS National Tour point leader Travis Rilat took advantage
of the final caution to advance two positions after charging from the 18th
starting position, rounding out the top five following a post-heat race engine
change.

Randy Martin claimed sixth, with Brian Brown, 20th-starter Jon Corbin, Jan
Howard and Steve Gennetten completing the top ten.

Stewart, Alley, Gennetten and Swenson topped heat race action, with Ryan York
winning the 12-lap B Feature.

Wright Sweeps ASCS Gulf South Twin 20's at Thunder Valley

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - UNION HILL, Lou. (September 20, 2003) - Gary Wright
pocketed $3,000 by sweeping Saturday night's twin 20-lap American Sprint Car
Series Gulf South Region features at Thunder Valley Speedway.

With the top six in qualifying inverted for the first feature, Greg Rilat led
the field to the green flag with Stephen Chevallier alongside in the first
feature. Rilat paced the opening rounds with Todd Johnson chasing until he
slipped high on the eighth round, allowing fifth-starter Wright and Scottie
McDonald to close in on Rilat.

Wright took command soon after and raced to the checkered flag in the first
20-lapper ahead of McDonald. Johnson recovered for third, with Sam Hafertepe,
Jr., overtaking Rilat for fourth on the final round.

The top ten finishers in the first feature were inverted for the second main
event, with Wright tagging the rear of the 20-car field.

Brandon Berryman outgunned polesitter Kelly Angelette to take the early lead
in the second feature, pacing the early rounds with Morgan slipping past
Angelette for second on the fourth round. Morgan dashed past Berryman to take
command three laps later, as Wright had already cracked the top five.

Working the crowd into a frenzy, Wright charged past Chevallier for fourth on
the seventh circuit, then disposed of Angelette and Berryman two rounds
later. Wright quickly closed in on Morgan and made the winning pass on the 14th
round.

Wright raced to the checkered flag aboard the Salina-powered Southwest
Express/The Shop/Richwood Construction Maxim with a four car-length lead over Morgan
at the line. Berryman snared the show position in front of current ASCS Gulf
South Region point leader Angelette, who battled through the twin features
just days after severely shattering his wrist in a dirt bike accident.
Chevallier rounded out the top five in the second feature.

Ramey Reels in ASCS Sooner Region Lawton Loot

Stepanie Chappell, Claud Estes and eventual race winner Kevin Ramey
Kevin Ramey posted his fifth American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region Kevin Ramey is interviewed by Lawton Speedway announcer Randy Ward
Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - LAWTON, Okla. (September 20, 2003) - Kevin Ramey
became the first repeat winner in the last seven American Sprint Car Series events
held at Lawton Speedway by topping Saturday night's 25-lap ASCS Sooner Region
feature.

"The car was really good for the first ten laps, but over the last fifteen
laps it kept getting looser and looser, I was really having to work it," said
Ramey in victory lane. "If the track officials would have opened up one of the
reds we could've made it better, but that was the same for everyone I guess.
The main thing is the Harvill Industries car was good enough again and we're
just two races away from finishing up this championship deal," Ramey concluded
after notching his fifth ASCS Sooner Region victory of the year.

After posting an impressive heat race victory, Stephanie Chappell led the
feature field to the green flag with Claud Estes alongside. The initial start
was waved off when fifth-row starter Foster Landon flipped violently down the
frontstretch as the green flag flew. Landon emerged from the wreckage shaken
but otherwise uninjured.

After two more false starts, Chappell outgunned Estes to grab the early lead,
with fourth-starter Ramey charging into second by the completion of the first
lap. Ramey pressed Chappell for the point until the lady hotshoe looped her
sprinter entering turn three on the fifth round, collecting third-running
Robert Sellers, who tumbled without injury.

Ramey took off on the restart, with Estes fighting off defending series
champion Danny Jennings for the runner-up slot. Ramey had slipped away to a half
straightaway lead when the caution flew after 17 rounds for Wayne Johnson, who
spun in turn two while battling for fourth after rebounding from an earlier
incident.

Set for an eight-lap dash to the checkered flag, Estes and Jennings kept the
pressure on Ramey. Ramey briefly opened up an advantage when Jennings battled
past Estes for second on the 21st round. Jennings reeled in the fleet Ramey
and poised himself to challenge Ramey in the closing rounds, but Ramey held on
to post a three car-length victory aboard the Wells-powered Harvill
Industries Eagle.

Jennings settled for second, with Estes posting a career-best ASCS finish by
snaring the show position. Roy Larkin claimed fourth, while Zach Chappell,
who was involved in an early fracas, charged from the tail of the field with
suspension problems to round out the top five.

Jeff Dodd snared a solid sixth place showing, with Derek Drown, 20th-starter
Travis Scott, Brian Harvill and Gary Owens completing the top ten.

Stephanie Chappell, Estes and Larkin topped heat race action. A hard turn
four flip in the evening's opening heat race brought an early end to Steve Ochs'
night.

Results:

First Heat (10 Laps): 1. Stephanie Chappell, 2. Kevin Ramey, 3. Derek Drown,
4. Foster Landon, 5. Nick Smith, 6. Zach Chappell, 7. Cody Branchcomb, 8.

Miller Caps ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Championship Season with Hometown Finale

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (September 16, 2003) - After clinching the 2003 American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region championship this past weekend in Billings, MT, Randi Miller of Rapid City, SD, will race in front of his hometown crowd this Saturday night as the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region season comes to a conclusion at Black Hills Speedway.

As an indication of how the season would unfold, Miller topped the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region season opener at Black Hills Speedway on May 9. Miller has gone on to post eleven feature triumphs in 23 ASCS Rocky Mountain Region events aboard Mac White's Carbone-powered Two Dot Tech Maxim.

Corey Brink was successful in putting a halt to Miller's hometown dominance when he topped the June 20 event at Black Hills. Miller had also been victorious when the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region was in action at Black Hills Speedway in the previous two years.

While Miller has finished outside the top ten only three times in 23 events, establishing a healthy 187 point advantage, Eric Miller (no relation to Randi) and defending series champion Mike Dreiling are engaged in a torrid battle for the runner-up slot.

Entering Saturday night's event, only five points separate Colorado drivers Eric Miller and Dreiling, with Miller currently holding a slight edge in the race for second. Dreiling has posted three victories, while Eric Miller has one triumph to his credit this season.

Rookie pilot Jake Pierson enters the season finale ranked a solid fourth in points, with fellow ASCS Rocky Mountain Region rookie Scott Milan in fifth. Completing the top ten in current points are Geoff Dodge, Mason Hill, Jace Pennetta, T.J. Thorne and Mark Sweet.

Saturday night's event, slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., will be the series third stop of the season atop Rapid City's half-mile semi-banked dirt oval.

Black Hills Speedway is located three miles south of I-90 Exit 61 in South Dakota, then 0.5 miles east on SR 44, then north. For additional information, contact the track at (605) 393-1552.

Who will be next Lawton ASCS Winner?

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (September 16, 2003) - Six different drivers have visited victory lane in the last six American Sprint Car Series events held atop Lawton Speedway's quarter-mile red clay oval. Which begs the question; will Saturday night's ASCS Sooner Region event at Lawton deliver a seventh consecutive different winner?

Five of the six most recent ASCS winners at Lawton Speedway are expected to be among Saturday night's combatants, including Zach Chappell, Kevin Ramey, Danny Jennings, Nick Smith and Foster Landon. All five have claimed ASCS Sooner Region victories at the competitive track since last season. Gary Wright, who won the June 7 ASCS Speedweek event, is the other winner in the most recent six events.

>From Broken Arrow, OK, Nick Smith topped the most recent event at Lawton Speedway, fending off a late charge from Jennings to post the victory on July 5 in front of a full house. Despite missing three Sooner Region events, Smith is still ranked eighth in points. Smith is also ranked eleventh in O'Reilly ASCS National Tour points.

Kevin Ramey topped this season's first ASCS Sooner Region event hosted by Lawton Speedway. From Ft. Worth, Ramey has notched four Sooner Region triumphs and holds a 104 point lead over defending series champion Jennings as the season nears completion.

Landon, Chappell and Jennings were each victorious in ASCS Sooner Region competition at Lawton Speedway in 2002.

With an off weekend for the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers, 2001 ASCS National champion Chappell will be on hand to vie for victory honors Saturday night. Chappell is currently a close third in O'Reilly ASCS National Tour points.

Jennings and Landon will also both be aiming for their first series triumph of the season.

While the quintet of Chappell, Ramey, Jennings, Smith and Landon seek to become the first repeat winner in seven races, a number of top contenders hope to extend the streak, including Amarillo's Derek Drown, who topped the series most recent event in West Siloam Springs, OK, on August 31.

Other top contenders expected for Saturday night's racing action include Sooner Region shoes Brian Harvill, Robert Sellers, James Shoun, Roy Larkin, Travis Scott and Stephanie Chappell, all of whom are currently ranked in the top ten in series points.

Saturday's racing is set to get under way at 8:00 p.m. Lawton Speedway is located off I-44 Exit 36, then 2.5 miles west on Lee Boulevard, then 1.5 miles south on Sheridan Road. For more information, contact the track at 580-355-6417.

$3,500 Payday Possible in Saturday's ASCS Gulf South Region Event

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (September 16, 2003) - With Kelly Angelette closing in on a second consecutive series championship, a unique format for Saturday night's American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region event at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, offers a payday of $3,500 for a clean sweep of the program.

The event will kick off with qualifying, with $500 going to the fastest qualifier courtesy of Harvey's Garage. A last chance race will then precede twin features, which will each offer $1,250 to win, with an additional $500 bonus for the driver that can win both features, making a sweep worth $3,500.

The top 14 in qualifying earn automatic starting berths in the first of two 20-lap features, with the top six in qualifying inverted for the first feature. Those not in the top 14 in qualifying will run a Last Chance race, with the top six advancing to the final three rows of the first feature.

The top ten finishers in the first feature will be inverted for the start of the second feature, with the remainder starting straight up according to their finishing position. However, the winner of the first feature will be required to go all the way to the back of the second feature to be eligible for the $500 double-feature "sweep" bonus.

Alternates from the Last Chance race will replace any cars that started the first feature but are unable to start the second 20-lap feature.

Hailing from Thibodaux, LA, Angelette is approaching a second consecutive series championship with a September 27 makeup date at Many (LA) Motor Speedway remaining after this weekend's race. A possible makeup date for the Battleground Speedway event that was rained out on September 6 is also under discussion.

One of Angelette's three ASCS Gulf South Region triumphs this season came in the series' most recent visit to Thunder Valley Speedway, on August 2, while Terry Gray topped this season's other event at the quarter-mile oval on May 25.

Angelette's closest championship challengers are Greg Rilat of Texas City, TX, who is just 50 points out of the lead, and 17 year-old rookie pilot Sam Hafertepe, Jr., of Sunnyvale, TX, who trails the leader by only 54 markers.

Other top ASCS Gulf South regulars include Louisiana shoes Todd Johnson, Cody Pearson, Stephen Chevallier and David Forbis, and Texas guns Brandon Berryman, Tina Creswell, Chris Sweeney, Harry Yerrington and Scottie McDonald.

Thunder Valley Speedway is located 9.5 miles west of Glenmora, LA, on SR 113 in Union Hill. For additional information, contact the track at 318-634-7290 or 318-748-4470 or ASCS Gulf South Region coordinator Keith Johnson at 337-457-4498.

Lonnie Wheatley - TULSA, Okla. (September 14, 2003) - While J.J. Yeley
clinched his second consecutive series championship with a runner-up showing,
California's Bud Kaeding stole the spotlight by scoring his first career USAC Weld
Racing Silver Crown Series triumph in Sunday's shortened O'Reilly Tulsa "100"
at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Motorplex.

Originally slated for 100 laps, USAC officials declared Sunday's event
complete with 77 laps in the books due to track conditions. With driver safety in
mind on the ¾-mile dirt surface made rough by eleven inches of rain as the base
was being laid over the past week, officials declared the race official 23
rounds short of the scheduled distance.

After kicking off the day by establishing a new track record of 24.921
seconds aboard the Ford-powered EMP Stewart Components Beast, Yeley led the O'Reilly
Tulsa "100" field to the green flag with Tyler Walker alongside and Zarounian
Motorsports teammates Kaeding and Aaron Fike in the second row.

Walker took command in the opening two corners as Yeley slid high, with
Kaeding quickly moving into second. In what would become the theme of the race,
Walker, Kaeding and Yeley began slipping away from the rest of the field just
three rounds into the race.

The trio diced for position in the opening rounds, with Kaeding slipping past
Walker for the lead on the eighth round as the pair battled through lapped
traffic down the backstretch. The race's first caution would appear two rounds
later when Donny Schatz spun exiting turn four.

When action resumed on lap 19, Kaeding held Walker off for the point, while
tenth starter Teddy Beach entered the mix for the lead by racing past Yeley for
third. Yeley would regain the position two rounds later, with Beach's strong
run coming to an end soon after with a flat right rear tire on the 24th lap.
Moments later, Jason McCord tagged the turn one wall, bringing out the
caution.

Back underway on lap 31, Walker stalked Kaeding for several laps then pulled
alongside in turn two on the 36th round. Kaeding successfully fended off the
challenge then began to stretch his lead as heavy lapped traffic came into
play on the 39th circuit.

As Kaeding masterfully worked through slower traffic, Yeley darted past
Walker for the runner-up slot on the 41st round. Kaeding had just cleared a pack
of cars on the 45th round, when the caution appeared for Dane Carter's stalled
mount in turn two.

The red flag would fly eight laps later, with 53 rounds in the books, when
ruts in turns two and four were deemed too dangerous. After a brief stoppage
for track repairs, action resumed with Kaeding leading the way in front of
Yeley, Walker, Fike, Paul White, Tracy Hines, Jay Drake and Russ Gamester.

Back under the green flag, Kaeding took off only to see the caution fly again
three rounds later when Larry Neighbors slowed with a cut right rear tire.

On the ensuing restart, Walker raced past Yeley for second in turns one and
two and set his sights on Kaeding. Walker shadowed Kaeding's every move with
Yeley stalking the pair until heavy lapped traffic came into play once again on
the 69th round.

Kaeding once again sliced through traffic perfectly, separating himself from
Walker and Yeley, with Yeley regaining second on the 71st lap.

Kaeding held nearly a half straightaway advantage aboard the Wesmar-powered
Kwik Change Stanton when race officials elected to throw the yellow after 75
laps. Officials declared the race complete two rounds later, giving Kaeding his
first series triumph in front of a large Tulsa crowd.

With his second place finish, Yeley clinched the USAC Weld Racing Silver
Crown Series championship by extending his point lead to 72 markers over Dave
Darland. Walker matched his series best finish by snaring the show position
aboard the Gaerte-powered RE Technologies Curb-Agajanian Drinan.

Fike ran strong throughout, posting a fourth place finish, with Hines
rounding out the top five. 2001 series champion White settled for sixth after
battling among the top five most of the day, with Drake taking the checkered flag in
seventh. Matt Westfall claimed eighth, with 17th-starter Gamester and
Darland completing the top ten.

Mike Hess, in his second USAC Silver Crown event, outdueled Roger Rager to
top the 15-lap Qualifying Race. Hess then raced from 21st to claim 12th in the
O'Reilly Tulsa "100".

Randy Bateman's day came to an early end after hard contact with the turn one
wall in hot laps. While Bateman's mount suffered significant damage, Bateman
was uninjured.

Shane Stewart, Aaron Berryhill and Travis Rilat lead the three-wide salute to the fans prior to Saturday night's 30-lap O'Reilly ASCS National Tour feature presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway.

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (September 6, 2003) – Shane Stewart completed a sweep of the weekend’s racing action for the O’Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers by wiring the field in Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at I-30 Speedway.

“The car was awesome tonight,” exclaimed Stewart following his sixth O’Reilly ASCS National Tour feature triumph of the season. “Rob Hart had the Maxim chassis dialed in perfectly, I could drive it anywhere I needed to go, and the Wesmar engine was running great. I don’t think the car could have been much better than it was tonight,” Stewart concluded.

After charging from seventh to win the fifth heat for the competitive 37-car field, Stewart led the feature field to the green flag with Aaron Berryhill alongside. Stewart bolted into the lead at the drop of the green flag, with third-starter Mike Ward shooting into second on the opening round.

Utilizing the high line flawlessly, Stewart amassed a half straightaway advantage by the time lapped traffic came into play on the eighth round. Traffic did little to deter Stewart’s pace however, as he worked the entire track to pick his way through traffic, keeping pursuers Ward, Zach Chappell, Berryhill and Travis Rilat at a safe distance.

After the race’s first caution appeared with fourteen laps complete for a turn four tangle involving Darren Stewart and Justin Sturch, Shane Stewart resumed the pace with four lapped cars between himself and second-running Ward.

Ward made quick work of the lapped machines as well and when the caution appeared again four rounds later for Lewis Jenkins, Jr., stalled mount in turn four, Ward found himself on Stewart’s rear bumper for the restart.

Ward made bid for the lead on the restart, but Stewart proved too strong and slipped away from the field, taking the checkered flag aboard Scott Chilcutt’s Pro Lube Center/Sander Engineering/Penske Shocks machine with nearly a straightaway advantage over Ward, who prevailed in a wheel-to-wheel battle with Rilat for the runner-up slot.

Ninth-starter Gary Wright and Berryhill battled for the fourth position over the final ten rounds, with Berryhill spinning in the final corner after contact as the duo avoided the spinning machine of Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Wright crossed the stripe in fourth, with 12th-starter Pete Butler rounding out the top five.

Tim Crawley earned the race’s Hard Charger award by racing from 18th to finish sixth, with 15th-starter Jan Howard, Nick Smith, 16th-starter Toby Brown and Garry Bell completing the top ten.

Chappell’s streak of seventeen consecutive top-ten finishes came to an end when he clipped an infield tire and suffered race-ending front end damage following the lap 18 restart.

Bell, Ward, Chappell, Berryhill and Shane Stewart each claimed 10-lap heat race victories. A.G. Rains nipped Stenhouse at the line to win the first 12-lap B Feature, with Crawley scoring a convincing victory in the second B Main.

Jason Martin and Jenkins performed a double-flip off the turn four embankment in the fourth heat after an attempted slide by Jenkins. Jenkins made quick repairs and finished second in the heat to qualify for the feature. Martin returned for B Feature action but after charging from the tail to third, front end damage ended his run.

Shane Stewart Storms to O'Reilly ASCS Victory Lane at Batesville

Shane Stewart stormed to his fifth O'Reilly ASCS National Tour
Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - BATESVILLE, Ark. (September 5, 2003) - When Darren
Stewart poked his nose underneath race long leader Shane Stewart on the 18th
round, Shane responded by moving to the low side and checking out on the field
over the final rounds en route to winning Friday night's 25-lap O'Reilly
American Sprint Car Series National Tour feature presented by Love's Travel Stops &
Country Stores and United Trailers at Batesville Speedway.

"I knew I was probably gonna have to go to the bottom eventually, but I was
kind of hesitant to do it as long as we were ahead. When I saw Darren
underneath me though, I knew it was time to get down there and the car worked great,"
commented Stewart following his fifth O'Reilly ASCS National Tour triumph of
the season.

After they both won their heat races, the Stewart siblings led the feature
field to the green flag with Shane on the pole and Darren to his outside. The
initial attempt to start the race was waved off when Rick Behr tagged the wall
entering turn one and flipped wildly. Behr escaped the hard ride uninjured.

On the restart, the Stewarts battled wheel-to-wheel into turn one, with Shane
gaining the advantage as the field raced off turn two. Only one lap was in
the books when fourth-running Jan Howard spun his machine in turn four,
bringing out the caution.

Shane Stewart led the way on the restart in front of Darren Stewart, Dale
Howard and Jason Martin, as Gary Wright quickly moved up from his ninth starting
slot. Wright had raced into fourth by the eighth round when he and Dale
Howard tangled in turn two, bringing out the caution. Wright and Howard were both
done for the night, while nose wing damage for Martin, who was nearly
collected in the incident, would eventually send Martin to the tail when then wing
flew off the car after eleven rounds.

Shane Stewart continued to lead the way as action resumed, holding a four
car-length lead over Darren Stewart as the laps wound down. As the leaders
approached lapped traffic, Darren closed the gap and ducked underneath Shane to
challenge for the lead in turns one and two on the 18th round.

Shane quickly moved to the low side, sliced through several lapped machines
and charged to the checkered flag with nearly a straightway advantage in the
Wesmar-powered Visit Australia "Down & Dirty Down Under Tour" Maxim.

After starting twelfth, Zach Chappell took over fourth following the
Wright-Howard tangle on the eighth round, slipped past Martin a lap later, then passed
Darren Stewart for the runner-up slot on the 22nd circuit. Travis Rilat
completed his Hard Charger of the race effort by snaring the show position on the
white flag lap after starting 17th.

Lewis Jenkins, Jr., edged Darren Stewart at the line for fourth, as Stewart
sputtered across the finish line with fuel pickup problems to round out the top
five. Toby Brown claimed sixth, with Aaron Berryhill, Jan Howard, A.G. Rains
and 18th-starter Garry Bell completing the top ten.

Dale Howard, Shane Stewart and Darren Stewart topped heat race action, with
Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., winning the 10-lap B Main. Brian Bell returned from a
flip in the second heat race to compete in the B Feature.

Rilat Clings to Slim Point Lead as O'Reilly ASCS Invades Arkansas

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (September 2, 2003) - Current O'Reilly
American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops &
Country Stores and United Trailers point leader Travis Rilat will try to fend off
fast-closing Hooks, TX, hotshoe Gary Wright as the series is set for an
Arkansas weekend.

point lead over Wright entering this weekend's action. Rilat has posted nine
consecutive top-ten finishes, with his last finish outside the top ten on July
12, when the series last visited I-30 Speedway.

Meanwhile, Wright has been red-hot in recent action, winning three in a row
and ten of the past fifteen O'Reilly ASCS features, running his season total to
fourteen in ASCS National competition and his career total to 75.

While the Texas pair of Rilat and Wright lead the way, Oklahoma shoes Zach
Chappell and Darren Stewart remain in the championship hunt as well.

Only 26 points out of the lead, 2001 ASCS National Champion Chappell has
finished in the top ten in all sixteen features since Knoxville's 360 Nationals,
utilizing consistency to close the gap on the leaders and stay in striking
position for a second series championship.

While an early exit in this past Friday night's main event in Haughton, LA,
set Stewart back in the points battle, the series leading Brodix Rookie of the
Year contender rebounded with a runner-up finish on Saturday night in Chatham,
LA, and remains in the hunt, just 54 points off the pace.

The leading championship contenders will face a number of top challengers

Series feature victory by topping Sunday night's 20-lap ASCS Sooner
Region main event at 412 Speedway Park in West Siloam Springs, OK.

Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. (August 31, 2003) - Derek
Drown scored his first ever American Sprint Car Series feature victory by
holding off Kevin Ramey to win Sunday night's 20-lap ASCS Sooner Region feature at
412 Speedway Park.

Starting on the pole, Drown outgunned fellow front row starter Roy Larkin to
grab the lead at the drop of the green flag. Drown paced the early going,
with Larkin, Foster Landon and Travis Scott in pursuit. Current ASCS Sooner
Region point leader Ramey moved into contention by the 14th round, when he
overtook Landon for third.

The caution appeared two rounds later when Scott rolled to a halt on the
track with a flat tire, setting up a four-lap dash to the checkered flag. Larkin,
who had been running second, and sixth-running Danny Jennings both changed
tires under the ensuing caution period before restarting at the rear along with
Scott.

Drown held off Ramey on the restart and raced to a car-length victory aboard
the Salina-powered Tripp's Harley Davidson & Buell Eagle.

"The track is different, you've got to go up a hill going off of four," Drown
explained following the victory. "The tire went flat on the last lap and I
tried to take up as much track as I could because I knew Kevin would be there
because he has been really good this year, he's fast."

Drown and Ramey were chased to the checkered flag by Landon, 15th-starter
Nick Smith and Stephanie Chappell. Brian Harvill, Scott, Jennings, Larkin and
James Shoun completed the top ten.
