Roger Long put the exclamation point on the season with his seventh track
championship at Farmer City Raceway. The final night of racing included
the Shootout, a 20 lap race for the dash winners all year long. Long started
sixth, and took the lead on lap 7 for the win by a straightaway over Donnie
Waldon and fast qualifier Eric Smith. The regular dash went to Steve Sheppard
Jr over Waldon. Heat races went to Wade Logue, Chris Dick and Jason Feger.
Jay Sparks won the semi-feature over Chris Dick. Ryan Dauber led the first
4 laps of the feature, before being passed by Long, who had a hard time
getting around Eric Smith and Dauber at the same time. Long then went on
to lead the final 21 laps, for his second feature in a row. Finish: 36 Roger
Long, 9 Eric Smith, 1w Donnie Waldon, S10 Jr Shickel, 4 Mike Mullvain, 25

Results from Farmer City Raceway (IL) - August 1, 2003
The UMP Challenge of Champions came to Farmer City Friday night, and
perennial track champion Roger Long was determined to add his name to
the list of champions. Long led all 30 laps of the feature, but the race
was definitely exciting behind him. Jr Shickel turned in fast time of
the 39 drivers in attendance. The dash went to Eric Smith over Long, Billy
Drake, Jr Shickel, Jason Feger and Brian Shirley to set up the first three
rows for the feature. Heat races went to Justin Allgaier, Joe Ross Jr,
Bob Pierce and Kevin Weaver. Semi features went to Cody Hupp and Don Hammer.
At the drop of the green flag, Long took off in the lead, holding off
early challenges from Eric Smith. Late in the race, ninth place starter
Bob Pierce closed in but time ran out. Dennis Erb Jr followed Pierce through
the traffic, but pulled off the track late in the race while running third.
This was the first big win for Long at Farmer City in over 15 years, and
puts him in the season ending event at Pevely MO paying $15,000 to win.

The modified feature was a very exciting event with Kyle Byerline holding
off Kelli Kouski, semi feature winner Jeff Leka, Roger Drake and Rocky
Griffin. Roben Huffman led a big part of the race, but was taken out with
a smoking engine.

Frank Shickel, Jr led all 25 laps to win the feature Friday night, holding
off Kevin Weaver and Eric Smith. Weaver started out the evening with fast
time of the 29 drivers on hand at 13.195 seconds. The dash went to Joe Ross
Jr over Shickel Jr, Steve Hillard and Jason Feger. Heats went to Mike Mullvain
over Chris Dick, Richie Hedrick over Butch Smith and Roger Long over Eric
Smith. Semi feature was won by Cody Hupp over Mike Glasscock.

The modified feature turned into a race of champions, with former track
champion Jim Leka passing another former track champ Roger Drake for the
win, with Tim O'Donnell also slipping past Drake for second place.
Sportsman feature went to Ron Sandage, after passing race long leader
Jason Cleaver on the last turn of the last lap.
Street stock feature went to Ryan Unsicker.
BARTONVILLE MAN WINS FEATURE RACE!!!!
Farmer City (IL) - July 18, 2003
Mike Mullvain (Bartonville) held off Justin Allgaier for the win Friday
night. Jason Feger started the evening with fast time of the 25 late models
on hand at 12.876. The dash went to Mike Glasscock over Jr Shickel and
Don Hammer. Heats went to Richie Hedrick, Steve Sheppard Jr and Joe Ross
Jr. The semi feature went to Cody Hupp over Corey Rolfe. The feature event
saw third place starter Mike Mullvain take the lead on the first lap and
opened up a sizable lead until a late caution. After the restart, Justin
Allgaier put Mullvain's driving skills to the test, but Mullvain held
off Allgaier for the win over Jason Feger and Steve Sheppard Jr.

The modified feature was again won by point leader Jeff Leka, after a
late race caution restart pass on Kyle Logue, with Roben Huffman also
getting by Logue for second. All 20 starters survived several cautions
to finish on the lead lap.
The sportsman feature went to Ron Sandage over Jeff Leka.

UMP Summernationals
With a whopping 50 late models from 10 states on hand, Don O'Neal proved
once again why he has garnered the nickname "The Real Deal."
Local and national standout Shannon Babb turned in fast time for the evening
at 13.122 seconds. The dash went to Babb over Jeep VanWormer, Steve Sheppard
Jr, Roger Long, Billy Moyer, Terry English, Billy Drake, Justin Allgaier
and Jr Shickel. The previous night's winner Terry English coughed an engine
in time trials, and switched to his back up car for the evening. The top
three from each heat advanced to the feature, with the first heat going
to Joe Ross, Jr over Billy Drake, Randy Korte Steve Hillard and Gary May.
Second heat went to Don O'Neal over Wendell Wallace, Mike Mullvain, Justin
Allgaier and Bob Pierce. Third heat went to Darren Miller over Kevin Weaver,
Jr Shickel, Eric Kwasigroh and Corey Turner. The fourth and final heat
went to Joe Harlan over Eric Smith, Dennis Erb Jr, Chris Dick and Don
Hammer.
The semi-features looked like a who's who of the midwest racing scene,
filled with track champions from everywhere. Steve Hillard bested Bob
Pierce, Todd Bennett, Gary May and Justin Allgaier in the first semi.
The second semi went to Eric Kwasigroh over Richie Hedrick, Don Hammer
and Chris Dick.
Twenty Two late models started the feature with Shannon Babb and Jeep
VanWormer on the front row. After a first lap caution, the remaining 49
laps were run under the green flag, with O'Neal going to the low side
to take the lead from Babb on lap 16, and sailing to a comfortable half-lap
lead at the checkers. Billy Drake came in second after a late battle with
third place finisher Babb and Billy Moyer. Roger Long, Terry English,
Wendell Wallace and Kevin Weaver rounded out the lead lap finishers.

Roger Long proved once again that he is the master of the high groove Friday
night. The evening started out with Long turning in fast time of 13.200
over the 32 other drivers in attendance. Justin Allgaier then won the trophy
dash over Eric Kwasigroh and Long. Heats went to Steve Sheppard Jr over
Lonnie Franklin Jr, Mark Anderson over Chris Dick and Joe Ross Jr over Gary
May. Jr Shickel won the semi feature over nephew Flip Shickel, Chris Dick
and brother Eddy Shickel.
Long, by virtue of the draw, started outside front row of the feature and
took off to a commanding leave. Pole sitter Eric Smith ran him down at lap
18 using the low groove, and passed Long, but two laps later, Long retook
the lead and once again ran off from everyone. finish: 36 Roger Long, 9

Farmer City Raceway (IL) Results - June 27, 2003
Justin Allgaier led all 25 laps of the feature event Friday night at
Farmer City, but it was not an easy race at all. Allgaier turned in fast
time at 13.063 with
29 late models on hand. The dash went to Brian Shirley over Mike Glasscock
and Jammie Wilson. Heats were won by Michael Bradley over Marvin Burton,
Chris Dick over Lonnie Franklin, Jr and Mike Mullvain over Steve Sheppard,
Jr. The semi feature went to Chris Dick over Tim Lance, John Woodard and
Lonnie Franklin, Jr.
Allgaier sped out to the lead with Jr Shickel and Ross in tow. Ross threw
every move at Allgaier to try and get around, but the patience of the
youngster paid off, and with a bold move through lapped traffic, sped
away from Ross, giving him his first win at the historic old fairgrounds.

Farmer City Raceway (IL) Results - June 20, 2003
The annual Twin 30 lap features were held Friday night, with Billy Drake
putting the hurt on the other 36 drivers by taking both features. The evening
started out with Mike Glasscock turning in fast time at 13.171 seconds.
The dash was won by Drake over Roger Long, Justin Allgaier, Kevin Weaver,
Glasscock and Mike Mullvain.
The heats had Toby Scharp winning over Mike Glynn and Jim Loomis, even though
Scharp's car broke as he took the white flag, but he had enough of a lead
to coast back around to win. Second heat was Jay Sparks over Richie Hedrick
and Butch Smith. Heat three went to Jr Shickel over Jeff Leka and Michael
Bradley. The final heat saw Roger Long move to the low side and post the
win over Eric Smith and Steve Sheppard, Jr.
Semi features went to Joe Ross, Jr over Marvin Burton and Jr Shickel, even
though Ross had an oil line come loose early and the car put out smoke the
whole way. The second semi went to Jeff Leka over Gary May and Jay Sparks.
The first feature had Glasscock taking the early lead from the pole, with
Long zooming by on lap 4. Drake managed to catch up and pass Long on lap
22 to lead the final eight laps. Long came home second over Glasscock and
Weaver.
First feature finish: Billy Drake, Roger Long, Mike Glasscock, Kevin Weaver,
Mike Mullvain, Jason Feger, Gary May, Justin Allgaier, Chris Dick, Jr Shickel.
The fast 14 qualifiers were then inverted for the second feature, with Jason
Feger and Donnie Waldon on the pole. Feger jumped out to a huge lead, until
Roger Long ran him down and passed him on lap 18 with a rough pass as they
were lapping a bunch of cars. Long's car seemed to have problems, as he
then came became very erratic and out of control, but sell leading until
lap 26, when the tenth place starting Drake passed him by and went on for
the win Long held on for second with Feger third.
Second feature finish: Billy Drake, Roger Long, Jason Feger, Justin Allgaier,
Kevin Weaver, Eric Smith, Joe Ross, Jr, Jeff Leka, Gary May, Michael Bradley.
The full grandstands also got to see some great modified racing with 41
mods on hand. Jeff Leka passed Denny Schwartz for the win over Al Crawley,
Randy Huffman and Jerry Huffman.
The sportsman feature also had some rough and tumble racing with Shane Tomlin
winning over Jim Felker Jr and Darrell Dick.
Farmer City (IL) Rained out on June 13, 2003
Racing action was rained out. Twin 30 lap late model features, $1500 to
win each will be run next Friday, June 20.

Farmer City Raceway (IL) Results - May 30, 2003
The first leg of the Tri-State Challenge was won by Shannon Babb, besting
drivers from seven states. Kevin Weaver set fast time of the 48 drivers
on hand at 12.938. The dash was run UMP Summernational style, with a fabulous
race being won by Roger Long over Don O'Neal, Mike Mullvain and Terry
English. Kevin Weaver, Billy Moyer, Joe Ross, Jr and Bob Pierce all won
heat races with semi features won by Billy Drake and Brian Shirley. Roger
Long and Don O'Neal started front row, with O'Neal taking the initial
lead, and opening up quite a distance between himself and second place
Long. Around lap 10, Babb nosed his way into making it a three wide race
for the lead. Babb then took the lead for himself on lap 14. The latter
stages of the 40 lap, $10,000 to win feature saw tenth place starter Bob
Pierce come on strong and make a bid for the lead. Babb would not be denied
this win, and Pierce settled for second place.

Mike Mullvain won his first feature of the year by holding off Roger
Long for the win. Long had earlier turned in fast time. Heats were won
by Wade Logue, Justin Allgaier and Steve Sheppard, Jr. The semi feature
was won by Jeff Leka over Joe Ross,Jr. Mike Glasscock led the early laps,
but Mullvain took the point and was never seriously challenged until after
the white flag flew. Then Long tried to no avail to make the pass. Mullvain
took the checkers in front of Long, with Steve Sheppard, Jr third, Eric
Smith fourth and Jr. Shickel rounding out the top five.

the checkered flag Friday night. This time, however he started in sixth
place and took the lead from Jr. Shickel on lap 14. Long had posted fast
time of the 27 late models at 13.148. Jr Shickel won the dash over Don
Hammer. Flip Shickel, Mike Glasscock and Justin Allgaier won the heats
and Glasscock won the semi.

Jr, 1A Justin Allgaier, 6 Mark Anderson, S10 Jr Shickel, 5s Steve Sheppard,

NASCAR night at the races Brings in fan favorites
NASCAR night at the races Tuesday brought in fan favorites Kenny Schrader
and Kenny Wallace. 40 Late models and 64 modifieds signed in, with veterans
Roger Long and Danny Schwartz taking the late model and modified feature
wins. Long showed the way early, with fast time at 12.986. There was no
dash. Heats were won by Steve Hillard, Steve Sheppard, Jr, Dennis Erb, Jr
and Gary May. Semi features saw the top three advance, with Brian Shirley
over Steve Hillard and Steve Sheppard, Jr. The second semi had Dennis Erb,
Jr winning over Michael Bradley and Kenny Schrader, who took the last spot
for the feature. Roger Long set sail from the green flag, using his familiar
high groove to his advantage and sailed to an easy victory over former UMP
National champs Kevin Weaver, Rodney Melvin, and Bob Pierce.

Thirty Late models took to the track Friday night, with local driver
Don Hammer turning in fast time at 13.194 seconds. No dashes were held.
The heat winners were Brian Patterson, Jeff Leka and Joe Ross, Jr. The
semi feature went to Donnie Waldon over Larry Bunning. Richie Hedrick
led all 25 laps of the feature with a lot of early pressure from Don Hammer.
Hammer finished second with Roger Long.

Thirty Six late models braved the chill and put on a show for the fans.
Roger Long turned in fast time at 12.907. The dash was won by Jr. Shickel
over a fast charging Long.
Heat wins went to Lonnie Franklin, Jr, Richie Hedrick and Jeff Leka.
Semi features went to Dennis Erb, Jr and Donnie Waldon. The feature event
was wild and wooly, with pole-sitter Mark Anderson taking the point over
Justin Allgaier. Allgaier took the lead on lap 3, only to hand it back
to Anderson on lap 8. Lap 11 saw Anderson spinning causing the third yellow,
but getting his spot back because he had help going around. With all the
action up front, Steve Sheppard, Jr and Joe Ross, Jr made their way through
the field, all three battling for the lead for lap after lap. Ross, Jr
led the final ten laps, taking home the victory over Sheppard and Allgaier.

With over 140 cars in the pits, Farmer City Raceway fans got to see a
lot of great racing action Friday night. Young Justin Allgaier turned
in the fastest time of the 40 late models with a lap of 12.752 seconds.
The dash went to Mike Glasscock over Bret Sievert. Heat wins went to Tom
Markham, Gary Webb, Toby Scharp and Roger Long. Semi features were won
by Mark Anderson and Jeff Leka. The fast qualifier Allgaier scratched
for the feature, but the action was hot and heavy all the way. Glasscock
took the initial lead, but gave it up for good on lap 10 to Sievert, who
in turn passed the lead to the rim-riding Roger Long, who only led 4 laps
as Dennis Erb, Jr came from his seventh place starting spot running the
bottom to pass Long and take the checkered flag back to Carpentersville,
IL.

Kyle Byerline for another exciting finish.
Farmer City Raceway (IL) Results 04/11/2003
Roger Long used his 29 years of experience to win the season opener over
Joe Ross, Jr. Thirty late models signed in with Joe Harlan posting fast
time. Mike Glasscock won the dash over Corey Turner. Heat winners were
Richie Hedrick, Chris Dick and Joe Ross, Jr in a checkered flag pass over
Jeff Leka. Semi feature went to Roger Brickler over Jason Fegers and Chris
Dick. The twice rained out RPM Shootout for last years trophy dash winners
went to Jeff Leka over Joe Harlan, Joe Ross, Jr and Chris Dick. The feature
had a couple of first night restarts, and a bit of confusion, with Mike
Mullvain taking the early lead and Roger Long passing him for the lead
on lap 2. A fierce battle with Ross,Jr and Jr Shickel started about lap
18 with Shickel pulling alongside second place Ross and Long at the same
time. Shickel took the lead at lap 19, but gave it back on lap 21 as Long
powered past for the win.
