Midway Speedway Race Results from September 20

With only one racing week left at Midway Speedway, the racing is still nothing less than spectacular. Plenty of 3 and 4 wide action and all the thrills and spills of dirt track racing were packed into last weekend's events.
The Late Model Class put on a great show. Over 35 cars came to try their hand at making the show that only started 18. Skip Watterman, who is no stranger to victory lane at Midway, took the checkered flag once again. The top 10 in the Late Models were Skip Watterman, Brian Eaton, Shane Mcloughlin, Cortney Clewell, Larry Bond, Jeff Ferguson, Rick Bond, Andy Bond, Doug Henry, and John Mallett.
The points chase in the modified class is very interesting. With only a handful of points between first and second, the championship will come down to the events this coming weekend. The winner for last weekend was Corey Conley followed by Larry Bond, Skip Watterman, Brent Trimble, Andy Parsons, Jeremy Berwanger, Larry Holbrook, Jeff Staggers and Dwight Henry to round out the top 10. Next weekend should be a great race as SKip Watterman and Larry Holbrook battle for the championship.
The Pure Stock points are even closer than the modifieds are. Last week the difference was 3 points, this week it is 4 points with the second place man taking the lead. Wayne Shaw and Jerry Voytko have struggled all season for the championship title and this weekend will decide the winner. The pressure is on these guys to preform and perform well. Each driver gets points for the night for pill draw, heat races, consy and feature positions. So for these guys the night will have to be almost flawless. The one will the best luck this week will be the champion. It's worth the trip to come down and watch as the season unfolds for the pure stock class. Last week the winner of the Pure Stock feature was Dan Walker following him were Jerry Voytko, Jamiy Boyd, Aaron Ellis, Ryan Mayle, Tim Bernard, Nathan McCune, Bubby Soler, Wayne Shaw and Rick Reed.
The top 5 in the first 4 cylinder feature were Terry Adkins, Dale Beckett, Mark Adkins, Rus Starner, John Ohse and Barry Fluty.
The top 5 in the second 4 cylinder feature were Mike Snyder, Dusty Stickel, Ryan Pearson, Milo White and Ted Tucker.
The last event for the 2003 season for MIdway Speedway is their season points championship. The purse has been raised for all classes and anyone is welcome to come down and try for the money. For more details visit the Midway website at

Midway Speedway Race Results from September 13

If you didn't go to Midway Speedway this past Saturday, you missed the best night of racing they've had all year.
The night started off with a bang during the Late Model heat races when the 8D of Dave Wolfe, who has been racing at Midway for years, won his heat race by a mile. Then on to the Late Model feature when Wolfe Grabbed the lead at lap number 1 and never looked back. He lead from green to checker in both the heat and the feature. Wolfe ended the night with his first Late Model Victory ever. The crowd went wild with excitement for Wolfe as they had been watching him battle his way through many races and never taking the checker. The fans as well as the driver definitely were happy to see this race end the way it did.
On to the Pure Stocks. As the green flag dropped it was a battle between Wayne Shaw, Aaron Ellis and Jerry Voytko for the lead. Lap after Lap the tension rose as the crowd didn't know who would take the lead the next time around. On lap 17 tow of the front runners got into an accident, one was put to the tail and the other one had some damage but they were still battling on. The on lap 18 the number 10 of Mike Greiner came from out of no where and passed the field on the outside and stole the lead from them all. Greiner who had started in the 9th position caused a caution on lap 7 and was sent to the tail. During the course of the next 13 laps he maneuvered his car through the field and ended up with the checkered passing all 18 cars. Mike Greiner also took home his first feature win ever that night. He too has worked hard and battled many nights for a good finish. He finally succeeded last saturday.
The micro sprints were also at Midway for the last time this season. The top 5 in their race were Rob Felix, Cameron Hague, Rex Slaughter, Kevin Morehouse, and Alex Blosser. The micro sprints have always put on a great show and there season with Midway Speedway has come to an end.
The Modified race hard charger went to Wade Benjamin after he advanced 9 spots from his starting position in the race. The modified class is very competitive and the hard charger definitely has to earn that title. The winner of the Modified race was Larry Bond following him were Jared Hawkins, Andy Parsons, Mike Burley, Larry Holbrook, Mark Luning, Jeff Staggers, Fred Hittle, Wade Benjamin and Tim Roll.
The 4 cylinder class now runs two features. The top 5 in the first feature were Jerry Adkins, Andy Parks, John Ohse, Terry Adkins and Jason St. John. The top 5 in the second feature were Jessie Adkins, Marvin White, Jeremy Misel, Lacy Thompson and Mark Welch. They also had to run a make up race from the previous week that had to be postponed due to fog. The top 5 in the make up were Ryan Erskine, Jim McCoy, Candice Bigham, Ken Funk and Milo White.
Midway Speedway's racing season is closing to an end on the 27th of Sept. The events for the 20th will be regular events for all classes and then on the 27th will be the season points championship. The Championship night will pay $2000 for Late Models, $700 for Modifieds, $400 for Pure Stocks and $250 for the first feature and $100 for the second feature in the 4 cylinder class.

Lots of Racing Action This Past Weekend At Midway Speedway

Midway Speedway had so much racing going on this weekend that it's almost impossible to tell about it all. Everyone there absolutely had a great time.
If you went by Midway during mid-week you would have seen campers parking and people marking off their spots. It put me in mind of a little Eldora, when it comes to camping that is.
Come Friday night the camping space was limited and the fans were there to stay for the duration.
The events for Friday night started off a little late. There was a down pour right about pill draw time. Which put a hold on hot laps. After the events finally got started they rolled along smoothly.
The Late Model feature top 5 were Andy Bond, Harold Redman Jr. , Tye Long, Cortney Clewell and Skip Watterman. With the fast qualifier being Harold Redman Jr.

During the show the fans were treated to a beautiful fireworks display during intermission. Then after it was all over for the night the fun begin for most. There was a hog roast for everyone to enjoy who had the munchies after the race. I believe a 150 pound hog was eaten during the course of the night. Then bright and early Saturday morning the kitchen was humming again as breakfast was being served. The campers were treated to pancakes, sausage, Orange Juice, Milk & Coffee courtesy of Midway Speedway and Muskingum Valley Grocers.
As if that weren't enough around noon the dunking booth opened. The drivers got in and had a good time and the fans who were trying to dunk them had an even better time. At the end of the dunking booth session it was time to start getting ready for racing. While the racers started working and the partiers started taking a nap the D.J. played some great music for all of us. And before you knew it, was 5:30 again. Time for pill draw.
It was time for racing. This time they had the regular classes plus the street stocks. The fans got so see even more racing then they saw Friday night.
The Modified Feature was great to watch. The top 10 in that feature were 00 Pat Gillian , 10 Larry Bond, 683 Skip Watterman, 96 D.J. Cline, s8 Chriss Stotts, L19 Larry Holbrook, RV1 John Burdette, 94 Wade Benjamin, 60 Dwight Henry and 48r Ryan Mayle.

There were only a few cars to turn out for the Street Stock race. But Midway has decided to run them again this coming weekend. If I could sum Saturday's racing up in one word it would have to be "WOW". I have never seen such great racing at Midway Speedway yet this season.

The final outcome of the race Wayne Shaw, Kyle Bates, Jamiy Boyd, Don Sanders, Jerry Voytko, Byron Suggett, Mike Carsey, Mark Hinton, Bubby Soler, and Mark Alfman to round out the top 10.
The Late Models were roaring this week. They started there night qualifying, with Shane McLoughlin being the fast qualifier. Then after the heats the top 6 from ran a dash for feature position. living proof of one man's Dream

Some track might hold a race called the Dream but at Midway Speedway you will see living proof of one man's actual Dream. Long time driver Ted Johnson once told his wife as they were pulling into Midway "One day we will own this place". And in the 2002 race season Ted saw that dream come true. Now in the 2003 season anyone who visits Midway Speedway in Crooksville, OH will see the same thing. What was once dubbed "mudway" has seen many improvements over the past year and is currently undergoing many, many more. Ted's dream of have a "racer friendly" track is fast on it's way to coming true.
The drivers who come to Midway will see that the payout for all classes is one of the highest in Mid-Ohio. Even the drivers who aren't fortunate enough to see the feature payout are given consy or tow money. Ted says that there should never be a time when a driver goes home without some money in his pocket.
This past weekend was no exception. The racing was excellent and everything was completed by 10 pm. Allowing the fans plenty of time for a safe drive home.
In the Late Model Feature the winner was the 0w of Skip Watterman. Following him were 7 Dan Morrison, a10 Andy Bond, 4 D.J. Cline, 10 Larry Bond, 21 Jason Montgomery, 1a Doug Henry and 14 corey Conley to round out the top 8.
The Modified feature saw the 5 of Mark Luning take the victory. In the second spot came the 683 of Skip Watterman then 10 Larry Bond, 707 Corey Conley, L19 Larry Holbrook, 14 Andy Parsons, 45g Don Goff, 48r Ryan Mayle, 10 Ron Dunkle and 150 Tim Roll to finish the top 10.
The top 10 in Pure Stocks were V1 Jerry Voytko, 11 Kyle Bates, 04 Darrell Sanders, 50f Jeremy Berwanger, 45 Mike Carsey, s1 Don Sanders, 17E Aaron Ellis, 44 Rick Reed, 18 Wayne Shaw, and 95 Jason Summerville.
The 4 cylinder races went on without a yellow all night. Green to checker racing through heats and feature. Great Job Guys. The top 10 in their feature were 49 Terry Adkins, 14 Barry Fluty, 101 Jerry Adkins, 55 Matt Long, J52 Jeremy Misel, 33 James Hartsell, and L7 Lacy Thompson.
This coming weekend at Midway you will see the 250cc Microsprints plus all the regular classes. As always for more information on the track or for complete results you can visit the website at http://hometown.aol.com/midwayracing or you can call 740-982-2987 for the track or 740-982-2363 for the office. See ya at the races!!

Over 130 cars came out for Midway's Jim Dunn Memorial

Even thought the rain postponed teh Jim Dunn Memorial for a day it didn't seem to bother the drives a bit. Over 130 cars came out for Midway's annual race.
This year the Late Model class was running for $5000. After each driver had 2 rounds at qualifying the fastest to qualify was the number 14 of Corey Conley. With that title came a prize from McMillen Tire. McMillen donated a free Late Model racing tire to Conley. Thanks John. The heats started with a top four inversion making it more exciting. When it was time to start the race you saw the 75 Bart Hartman on the Pole and 0w Skip Watterman on the outside pole. By the time lap 50 came around the finishing line up went as follows : 75 Bart Hartman, e1 Mike Balzano, 71c R.J. Conley, 0w Skip Watterman, 14 Corey Conley, s2 Tim Senic, 18 Keith Berner, 55 Tye Long, 17 Charlie Duncan, 001 Greg Mitchell, 59 Shane Mcloughlin, 2s Sam Stile, 10 Larry Bond, 5m Terry Mcgrath, 1p Rod Phillips, A10 Andy Bond, 12 Courtney Clewell, 4 D.J. Cline and 25 Mike Benedum.
The Modified feature was a good race to watch. Those cars were rally flying. Corey Conley won another modified race a Midway Speedway. He's really cooking down there. The feature finish was: 707 Corey Conley, 10 Larry Bond, 11 Fred Hittle, L19 Larry Holbrook, 10 Ron Dunkle, B4 Mike Burley, 683 Skip Watterman, 56 Bruce Dennis, 5 Mark Lunning, 85 Rob Duston, 00 Pat Gillian, 6H Lee Heavener, 777Doug Thompson, 67 Rob Stambaugh, s3 Lee Swain, 48r Ryan Mayle, 60 Dwight Henry, and 1* Bobby Kitchen.
The Pure Stock race saw Jamiy Boyd lead from green to checkered. This was Boyds first feature win this year at Midway. The finish lineup was: 3b Jamiy Boyd, 44 Rick Reed, 1j Shawn Jett, 04 Darrell Sanders, V1 Jerry Voytko, 44j Justin Berwanger, 02 Joey Chambers, 18 Wayne Shaw, 17e Aaron Ellis, 45 Mike Carsey, 174 Nathan McCune, 59 Bill Summerville, s1 Don Sanders, L07 Larry Tabler, 10 Mike Greiner, 1 Steve Harmon, 14 Todd Alexander, 37 Mike Hayes, 8 Tim Skelton and 49 Robert Mayle.
The last race for the night was the 4 cylinder event. During one of the heat races there was one of the hardest flips we've seen for a while. the USA 3 Eddie Ferrell bounced off the gurad rail and bounced onto it's top. While the driver was pretty shaken up, he did get up and walk away. The 4 cylinder feature finshers were : 48 Jason St. John, 46 Mike Adkins, 3 Allen Strickland, Z76 Bill Zimmerman, 45 Mark Adkins, 1 Dave Hull, 49 Terry Adkins, 22b Boz Daugherty, 14 Barry Fluty, 33 James Hartsell, 87 Frank Bowsher, USA1 Dusty Stickel, 21 Jeff McKirahan, 85 Kyle Barth, 70 Kelly Temple, 00 Mike Tom, 55 Matt Long, 20 jr Anston Tom and 11e Ryan Erskine.

Rains prevails over Midway

While the weather postponed the races on May 10th at Midway Speedway in Crooksville OH, it didn't keepTed Johnson from immediately starting to plan next few weeks of events.

The next couple of weeks at Midway are going to be some exciting ones. Coming up on May 17th the 250cc are rescheduled to attend along with the other regular classes.
Fo anyone who hasn't had a chance to see those cars they are great fun to watch. They are so little and so fast. Some people wonder how those drivers even fit into them. But they are a good time for everyone.

May 24th will bring a new idea for Midway Speedway. IT's gonna be something for the fans. Midway will host a Costume Night. Now this will be a sight that everyone will want to see. All those who come in costume will be judged and a cash prize will be given to the best costume in the pits as well as the best costume in general admission. There will also be other prizes given to those whose costumes are very noteworthy. So make sure you bring the family to the track dressed in their best costume for a night full of fun. With any luck you'll see promoter Ted Johnson in his get up too. The Micro Sprints will also be attending this night of racing too.

The next week end, Saturday May 31st, will be the 2nd annual Jim Dunn Memorial under Ted Johnson's watch. Last year was the first year for Ted to host the Jim Dunn. The winner for 2002 was the 14 of Corey Conley. Conley took home the win money that was $3000 for the 2002 season. This year the Jim Dunn Memorial will pay $5,000 to the Late Model winner, it will also pay $250 to start. Midway and it's management have also decided to make is a special night for all classes. The AMRA modified class will be racing for $700.00, the Pure Stock class will be racing for $350.00 and the 4 cylinder class will be racing for $200 to win. The gates will open early on May 31 you can plan to start arriving at 1:00 pm if you choose. Hot Laps will be at 6:30 and racing will start at 7:00 pm. Late Models will qualify with time trials that night. And they will draw a pill for their qualify position. The gate prices for May 31st are $30.00 for pits, and $15.00 for General Admission.

The Jim Dunn Memorial has been raced for many years at Midway Speedway. If anyone has any information on how many years it has been there or maybe some information on the history of the previous winners.. Midway would greatly appreciate you helping them out by sending it to the track. Any help you can give will help with the planning of future Jim Dunn Memorial at Midway. You can do this either by email at midwayspeedway@columbus.rr.com, phone 740-982-2987 or 740-982-2363, in the mail to 2317 St. Rt. 93 Crooksville, OH 43731 or you can visit the website at http://hometown.aol.com/midwayracing

And then don't forget the Double Header that is coming on July 4th and 5th. It is really a great family weekend. You can come on Friday and plan on staying till Sunday. Gates open at 3:00 on Friday July 4th and a night of regular events will be ran that night. Plan on camping over night and getting up bright and early to some wonderful breakfast provided free of charge by the Late Model Cafe and Muskingum Valley Grocery. Then stay all day for some of the funniest events aroung. Midway has a few things up their sleeve for the day time. Then take a nap and get ready to race again on Saturday night. Another night of Regular events are schedule plus there's always a possiblility of something even better that night. If you need to get away for the 4th of July, you definately want to go to Midway Speedway.

Remember that at Midway Speedway your guaranteed a good time!

Clewell Rocks Midway Speedway

One of the greatest Late Model races I've seen for a while was at Midway Speedway in Crooksville, OH this past weekend. The track was as close to perfect as you can get. The cars were going faster than I think I have ever seen them go around the 3/8 mile oval track. And the suspense was thrilling. The fans were on their feet by halfway through the race and no one could sit until the checkered flag dropped. The number 12 of Courtney Clewell, who started on the outside pole, had the lead for 17 laps. But right behind Clewell, reading the decals on his fuel cell, was the 2s of Sam Stile. Stile has already proven his ability to get around Midway by already winning 2 features there this season. At lap 17 Clewell got stuck in lap traffic with no where to go which allowed the 2s to get around him and take the lead. At lap 23 with only 2 laps to go , the yellow flag was flying. The officials lined the cars back up taking out the lap cars, this is customary at Midway. Now with 2 laps to go we have the two super powers for this race nose to tail. Stile had to set the pace with Clewell giving no breathing room. The green flag dropped, Clewell hung it all out on the wall and was determined to take his spot back. Lap 24 they were nose to nose and on the way back around for lap 25, the final lap, Clewell inched ahead. Clewell smashed the loud pedal and took home the win. It was some great racing. The fans, the teams, even the officials were still talking about it the next day. The top 10 finishers in that race were 12 Courtney Clewell, 2s Sam Stile, 0w Skip Watterman, 10 Larry Bond, 14 Corey Conley, 4 D.J. Cline, 55m Tim Moore, 0 John Mallett, 8 Mitch Brunton and 8D Dave Wolfe.

Of course Saturday May 3rd was the 4 cylinder Special event which paid $350.00 to the winner. These little cars are such fun to watch. Almost 50 signed in to try to take home one of the biggest payouts for 4 cylinders yet this season. The man who won was the driver of the 101 car Jerry Adkins. With Midway starting it's points race on May 3rd that means a new 4 cylinder rule goes into effect. The driver who wins a feature must start the tail of the next weeks feature should he make it. Which means the 101 Jerry Adkins will be the first to show how good he really is. I talked to the Adkins family about this rule and one of them stated "I'll start the tail for $350.00". So I guess he didn't mind taking the tail next week if that meant he could have a chance at the money this week. Make sure you check next week's results on the 101 car, we'll see how this rule will effect the racing. In addition to the big money win another guy stepped in with a great prize, John McMillen. John from McMillen Tire in Zanesville OH donated a FREE tire to the driver who finished in the 5th spot of the feature race. So the number 22B Boz Daugherty won the free tire. He's probably gonna need that. The top 10 in the 4 cylinder feature were : 101 Jerry Adkins, 49 Terry Adkins, 45 Mark Adkins, 48 Jason St. John, 22b Boz Daugherty, 1F Dave Hall, 83 Charlie Heiss, 68 Allen Carey, USA3 Ed Ferrell & 85 Kyle Barth.

The modifieds and pure stocks both got to see the black flag this week. The flagman has decided to show them who is boss and let them know that rough driving will not be tolerated. But all in all they both had a good race.
The top 10 in the Modified feature were 48R Ryan Mayle, 683 Skip Watterman, L19 Larry Holbrook, J4 Jason Graham 85 Rob Duston, 185 Bruce Miller, 11y Matt Yates, 11s Tim Smedley, 47 Clint Keenan & 150 Tim Roll.
The top 10 in the Pure Stock Feature were 49 Robert Mayle, V1 Jerry Voytko, 3B Jamiy Boyd, 18 Wayne Shaw, 11 Kyle Bates, 45 Mike Carsey, 10 Mike Greiner, 44 Rick Reed, 59 Bill Summerville & 97 Bruce Lent.

On May 10th the Micro Sprints will return along with the other Regular classes. Also coming up on May 31st, Midway will host their annual Jim Dunn Memorial. This year the winner will take home $5000.00 and those who start will win $250.00. The win money for the other classes will raise that night too. The modifies will pay $700, the pure stocks will pay $350 and the 4 cylinders will get $200. If you want any other information you can visit the website at http://hometown.aol.com/midwayracing

If you were looking for a track to get the most racing for your money...

If you were looking for a track to get the most racing for your money you should
have picked Midway Speedway in Crooksville OH. They had an amazing car count this past Saturday. With 137 cars in the pits, you can bet there was some great action out on the track. As always the promoter had the track in almose perfect condition. Twenty Three races were held when you combine the heats and features into one total. Thats some great fun for the fans and drivers alike.
The 4 cylinders had a ton of racing going on. First they had to make up the rain out feature from last week. Then the regualar events for the evening. But because so many 4 cylinders came to Midway Speedway the drivers decided they wanted to run two features. So that is just what the track did. The number 101 of Jerry Adkins won the rain out feature. He took the lead on lap one and never looked back. He held the position until he seen the checkered drop. When he got there he was awarded what would turn out to be one of two feature win trophies in the same night. Later in the evening during the 4 Cylinder A main he grabbed the lead once again on lap one and ran all the way home with it. Behind him in the A main were his fellow drivers Mike and Mark Adkins. What a great night of racing for the Adkins family. They were very excited. Not too many times can you win two features in one night. Great job Jerry. The 4 cylinder B main was won by 15 Rob Messenger. He lead the entire race.
The Late Models had a good show. Larry Bond started out on the pole and led for 17 laps then on lap 18 Courtney Clewell snatched the lead and took off. Clewell took home the checkered flag and what is rumored to be his first victory this year. He did a great job of racing around the track. Behind Clewell there was still some racing left in the last 8 laps of the race. Larry Bond, who was now in second, kept his spot for 6 laps then when the flagmen were giving the 2 to go signal,59 Shane McLoughlin powered his car right by Bond and stole second from him. Leaving Mcloughlin to finish 2nd and Bond finishing 3rd. The man who most likely came home with the hard charger points for this evening was 8 Mitch Brunton. He started in the 13th hole and brought his car all the way up to a 4th finishing spot. Great run for Mitch Brunton.
The Modified Feature went very smooth. Again some great racing action provided by the modified drivers. The 2K of Aaron Morey Started on the outside pole of the feature and come home with the checkered. 11x Larry Bond held his second place position until lap 12 when Larry Holbrook L19 passed him and took over the second place.
The Pure Stocks had put on the most racing of the evening. They held 5 heats and 3 features. The winner of the A Main was the 50 of Ron Mayle who more than once has seen the checkered flag at Midway Speedway. The Pure Stock B Main feature winner was 3 Jamiy Boyd. and the Winner of the C main was 51 Shane Houk. These drivers ran an excellent race. All the pure stocks ran good clean races. And some of the best shows there I might add.
Coming up for Midway Speedway this coming weekend is a compact reverse race. All 4 cylinders will have to run the oppostie way around the track. That should be fun. They are also running the Late Models, AMRA Modifieds and Pure Stocks. But here is something even better. On Friday July 5th Midway will have a complete race show, with all 4 divisions. If that isn't enough racing for you, then spend the night. Because on Saturday July 5th they will do it again. Another night of complete 4 division racing. When you wake up on Saturday Morning Midway has a special treat for anyone who wants to come down. They will be serving breakfast from 8 am to 10 am in the main concession stand and the best part of this is it's FREE. I can't think of a better way to spend the 4th of July weekend then at Midway Speedway . With Racing on Friday, Free Camping, Free Breakfast the next Day and then Racing again on Saturday night. It is bound to be some great family fun. If you would like more info on this or any other races please contact the Track at 740-982-2987 or visit their website at http://hometown.aol.com/midwayracing

Rain, Rain Go Away...

#14 Corey Conley after his Late Model Feature win

Saturday June 8th was a almost complete night of racing. Once again when others rained out and gave up Midway hung in there and tried their best to stick it out. The got everything in except the 4 cylinder feature. They will line the 4 cylinders up again this weekend and they will get to run double features.
This week the 4 cylinders did get to run their heat races and the winners for those were 4 Rick Jensen, 101 Jerry Adkins and 14c Greg Canter. They also got their consy race in and the top three to transfer to the feature were c7 Rus Starner, 3 Tim Jensen and J3 Wimp Carnes. After the rain fell briefly some people packed it up and left out. So there were a few missing for the 4 cylinder feature when they lined up and the alternates were given a shot at the rain out feature this coming weekend. Those taking the alternate spots were 50 Justin Berwanger and 33h Fred Hartzel. Good luck this coming weekend.

The Modified race was a good one to watch. Those boys are getting faster and faster. The winner this week was 11x Larry Bond behind him was the 8D of Dave Wolfe. In third place was the 85 of Rob Duston. The next seven to follow suit were 707 Corey Conley, 683 Skip Watterman, B4 Mike Burley,00 Chris Dickson, 11h Fred Hittle, 28 Jason Brookover and J4 Jason Graham. The car to watch in the Modifieds this week was the number 6 of Tom Johnson. He was cooking in his heat race. For being only the third time out in his modified he did a good job holding off some of the front runners at Midway Speedway. Johnson started on the inside pole of the second row of his heat. He held his third place position until lap 9 of the heat when he lost his power steering and had to slow down. Bad Luck for the #6 car. But he should be back in running order this next weekend.

A whopping 39 pure stocks came out this weekend to support Midway Speedway. That class is growing more every week. With 4 heats and two consys, that made allot of racing for the pure stocks. Heat Race winners were 44 Rick Reed, 48 Ryan Mayle, 25 Bryan Casey and 02 Joey Chambers. The winner of the Pure Stock feature was the number 48 driven by Ryan Mayle. top ten were 48 Mayle, 50 Ron Mayle, 25 Bryan Casey, 17E Aaron Ellis, 43 Don Pickinpaugh, 3 Jamiy Boyd, 11 Kyle Bates, 174 Nathan McCune, s1 Don Sanders & j21 Jim Creech.

The late model action is great at Midway Speedway and I would tell anyone who has never been there to go visit the place for some great racing action. Starting on the inside pole was 333 Tye Myers he grabbed the lead on lap one and he held his position until the white flag. Then just what he was afraid would happen, did. the number 14 Corey Conley passed him in turn 2 and he brought home the checkered flag for the third time at Midway Speedway. 333 and 14 Battled it out almost the whole race. Nose to Nose action from those two with what almost had to be a photo finish. None the less Conley crossed the finish line first and was awarded yet another feature win trophy from Midway. Third place went to 59 Shane Mcloughlin, the next 7 to cross the line were 12 Courtney Clewell, 55 Tye Long, 52 Brian Lillibridge, 10 Larry Bond, 4 D.J. Cline, 8 Mitch Brunton, and 2s Sammy Stiles.

This weekend at Midway Speedway will be their mid-season championship race. Any driver can compete. The points will be double all night. So there is a good way for some driver to rack up some points. Also a big upcoming event they would like to announce is on Friday July 5th and Sat. July 6th Midway will host a Double Header. They will run a complete show both nights. Camping is allowed and encouraged. Gates will open at 3:30 on Friday and close Sunday Morning. So pack up the kids, the tent, the dog if you want and go down and celebrate the 4th of July with Midway Speedway.

Saturday at Midway Speedway was the annual Jim Dunn Memorial

This past Saturday at Midway Speedway was the annual Jim Dunn Memorial. More than thirty
Late Models came to honor the late Jim Dunn and race for the coveted trophy. This year the number 14 of
Corey Conley took home the title of Jim Dunn Champion.
Conley started in the 7th position and at lap 7 had made his way to second position following behind the
race leader. Then by lap 14 Conley had powered his new Rocket Chassis to the front to take the lead away
from 59 Shane Mclaughlin. Conley held his spot for the next 26 laps and after lap 40 he seen the checkered fall
on him first. With Mclaughlin finishing close behind in second.
The race started 19 cars, 18 of which made it through the heats and 1 who was given a track provisional. The P11 of
Tim Penley was the high points man to take the provisional. The feature run down is as follows14 Conley, 59 Mclaughlin,
2s Stiles, 12 Clewell, 4 Cline, 55 Long, 10 Bond, c9 Casebolt, 7 Morrison, 1a Henry, 333 Myers, B1 Wilmoth, 15w Withem, 80 Durig, 96 Devoll, 28 Burris, 1mc McGill, 8 Brunton & P11 Penley.
The Modified at Midway Speedway were on a roll too. This week the checkerd flag went to Larry Bond making this his 5th victory at the track. Following close behind him all night was 85 Rob Duston.

The Pure Stocks had a great race. Midway was really happy with the way the feature was ran, No rough driving & no jump starts. They just want to tell everyone they did a great job and thanks for cooperating. The Feature winner this week was 50 Ron Mayle, behind him was his brother 48 Ryan Mayle. Ron took over the lead starting at lap 8 and help on till the end and took home the checkered. Out of all the classes the 4 cylinders had the most fun out of all of them. This time there was little beating and banging and they all just decided to race for once and they too put on a great show. Thanks go to them too from Midway Speedway. The number 17 of Jeff Crawford lead the way until lap 9 when a small collision caused him to go to the tail giving the 47 of Mike Adkins the lead position. Mike then lead the last 4 laps and he got handed the trophy. Behind him was the number 45 of Mark Adkins. The 4 cylinder feature finishing lineup is as follows 47 Adkins, 45 Adkins, 4 Jensen, K2 Shipley, 96 King, 92 Harris,11 Erskine, 3 Jensen, J3 Carnes, 33h Hartzel, 17 Crawford, 14 Fluty,20 Davis, J8 Matson, USA1 Stickel, 85 Duston, 9B Beaver & 4Mc McCoy.
Again Midway Speedway would like to thank all the Drivers and Teams for acting very sportsmanlike and for putting on a great show. They hope it continues every weekend. This coming weekend the track will have the Powder Puff races for all classes. The classes that will run this weekend will be a regular 4 division show of Late Models, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and 4 cylinders.

June 1st, Midway Speedway will host the Jim Dunn Memorial

This coming weekend, June 1st, Midway Speedway will host the Jim Dunn Memorial. This annual event will pay $3000.00 to win and will not have an entry fee this year. Gate prices will be twenty five dollars for pit passes, fifteen dollars for general admission and children ages six to twelve will be five dollars. Along with the Jim Dunn for Late Models they will also run the AMRA Modifieds, Pure Stocks and the 4 cylinders.
This past weekend at Midway they held regular events plus a dash for cash for all the classes. Eligibility for the dash was determined by the top six drivers in points. They competed in a six lap fast dash with the winner taking home some extra cash. The late Model winner was 96 Paul Devoll. The Modified winner was 85 Rob Duston. The Pure Stock winner was 50 Ron Mayle. The 4 cylinder winner was 3 Tim Jensen.
The racing action was great again this weekend at Midway. With about 120 cars in the pits, it seems the track just keeps getting better and better. The track promoter, Ted Johnson, is doing a great job. Without a doubt Midway Speedway is now the place to be on Saturday night for some great racing.
Twenty eight late models came out to vy for the coveted first place trophy for saturday nights events. Midway held three heat races with the winners being a10 Andy Bond, 10 Larry Bond, and 1A doug Henry. Feature action was amazing 1a Henry starting in the inside pole of the second row quickly took the lead and held on for 15 laps. Then on Lap 16 59 Shane McLaughlin, who started in the 5th position, had made his way up to the front and stole the lead from Henry.
McLaughlin maintained the lead and powered his Boss Chassis across the finish line. McLaughlin took home the checkered and a bonus. Midway decided to give an extra $100 dollars to the first 2 time winner at the track for the season. The top 10 in the feature were 59 Mclaughlin, 10 Bond, 4 D.J. Cline, 1a Henry, 8 Mitch Brunton, a10 Bond, 26 Allan Baker, 20 Eric Myers, 23 Ray Seifert, and 52 Brian Lillibrige.
The Modifieds came out and with great support for Midway this weekend. Where this class was lacking in cars in the past they quickly picked up this weekend. The modified purse was adjusted and now the drivers will receive $75 to start every race. Heat race winners for this weekend were 683 Skip Waterman and 85 Mighty Rob Duston. Duston started in the 7th hole for the heat and came through with a great heat race win. The modified feature saw 11x of Larry Bond take home the checkered again this week. Bond is defintely a hard charger at Midway and everyone wants to get around him. Behind Bond was 683 Skip Waterman, 85 Rob Duston, 1* Bobby Kitchen, 9 Mark Luning, 89 Bo Wiley, 10 Tim Roll, B4 Mike Burly, 45 Don Goff & 19 Dick holbrook rounding out the top 10.

One Hundred and Fifty Cars at Midway!

One hundred and Fifty cars lined the pits on Saturday May 18th at Midway Speedway. When just about eveywhere else called a rain out, Midway stuck to their guns and ended up with a great night of racing. Even after all the rain that had poured down, the track stayed in smooth and almost perfect condition all night. While trying to accomidate all the cars that normally don't run at the track, they were also hosting a Street Stock invitational. Ted Johnson the promoter has said "With all the cars and fans in the pits everything went pretty smooth" and the fans seem to agree. Another comment made by a fan was "We were going to another track but then heard they rained out so we decided to go to Midway Speedway for the first time. We had a great time, the racing was great, the food was great and the people were great. We will definately be back next week and every week." Ted Johson and the crew at Midway Speedway just want to thank all the teams and fans that came to support them. They also want to say thanks for being patient while they tried their best to run a great show. They would like to see everyone back again next week. This Saturday May 25th they will hold regular shows inviting the Street Stocks to come back again. Gates open at 3:30 and hot laps start at 6:30.
