"Don't make the same mistake twice seems to indicate three mistakes, doesn't it? First you make the mistake. Then you make the same mistake. Then you make the same mistake twice. If you simply say, 'Don't make the same mistake', you'll avoid the first mistake, won't you?" --George Carlin

George Carlin is one of my all time Favorite standup guys of all time. He can really make you think!!!!!!! There was a lady at work the other day that had never heard of him. I gave her a old tape of the seven words you can never say on the air and she about died. Hard to beleive that stuff is almost 25 years old!!!!!!

Carlin was one of my favs too until he brought his leftist, extremest "humor" into the mix.
I heard he's changed his ways, but don't really know for sure. I just wish he'd either get back into an argument with his Rice Krispies or find a place for his stuff and drop the nutty political viewpoints.

I agree with you on that BugMan!
Carlin has been one of the funniest and wittiest people in show business for many years, but his extremist political views have been big negatives in the later years of his career. I like his old humor, from 25 years ago.
One of my all time favorite Carlin routines was "A Place for My Stuff". (Obviously it was one of yours too, huh?)

Hey guys, I agree and think George Carlin's humor was good. But as said, when he started getting all political, that kind of turned me off.
It's been dicusssed on here before, cause I know "SpeedRacer" was a big fan, but I guess my all-time favorite humorist was the last Lewis Grizzard.

Had to pass this one one simply because it is so cute............
A father and his young daugther were driving down the highway. As they drove the little girl occupied herself by listening to one of her dad's old cassette tapes, a Simon and Garfunkel tape. The little girl listened attentively to the words, and when the song ended, she asked her dad, "Well, did he?"
The father asked, "Did he what?"
"Did Parsley save Rosemary in time?", she asked.

...and after that? ===================
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long," answered the Mexican.
"But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the American.
The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.
The American asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
"I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, and sing a few songs... I have a full life."
The American interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
"And after that?" asked the Mexican.
"With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."
"How long would that take?" asked the Mexican.
"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the American.
"And after that?"
"Afterwards? Well my Friend, That's when it gets really interesting," answered the American, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start selling stocks and make millions!"
"Millions? Really? And after that?" said the Mexican.
"After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings doing what you like and enjoying your friends."
And the moral is: Know where you're going in life... you may already be there.
