My blood pressure hit a all time high tonight. There was a group of people who hates the military and other people who was outside my base tonight. I wont mention any names of the group but they had signs that said "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and was showing major disrespect to our American Flag. I guess thats why we military members fight so these idiots can disrespect us like that. I really wanted to say something to them but I decided to be the bigger person and represent the US Navy with pride!! It just makes me so mad when people dont support the military.

Bobby,

You did the right thing. Those goofs are so far in the minority...just consider the source...the extreme vast majority is grateful for those of you who serve and protect; NOT the numb-skull extremests you had the unfortunate experience with this evening.

Bobby,

You did the right thing by not responding, because that is what they are looking for you (and other military personnel) to do in reaction. There is a difference between opposing the War in Iraq, being pro-peace, and straight up saying "Thank God for Dead Soldiers".

You were also right that you said that you were fighting so that those people had a right to protest in the fashion in which they did. Freedom of Speech is a double-edged sword that most people simply do not understand. While I do not oppose protesting the War in Iraq, I have a major problem with someone that is protesting the actual soldiers and using the words that you mentioned. Whether or not you agree with the War in Iraq or not, there is no need to attack the soldiers. If someone has a problem, then they need to protest to the U.S. Congress.

As you said in your post, those people are idiots. Keep serving proudly Bobby! I know quiet a few people that strongly oppose the War in Iraq, but they are still very supportive of the Troops.

I am sure most of you know what group I am talking about. I looked at there website and they are protesting all week in this area at every military base and hospital then they are going to the US Capitol building. I am very proud to serve and thank everybody here who supports me, Bug Jr, and every member of the "Worlds Greatest Military" the United States Military

Hey Bobby not reacting was the best decision you could have made.  While I was in Okinawa there were constant protests outside the base with the locals screaming and shouting and holding signs that said "GI go home". Well as we went out one night these people decided to surround us and start ranting.  Well me and my wonderous ability to control my temper starts pushing people outta my way.  My luck... there was a local news station filming so my NCOIC sees me on the news pushing the little people with signs outta my way and need less to say that didnt end well for me.  You are going to run into these peole throughout your service.  Just ignore them and let them do their thing its not worth reacting to trust me it cost me a lot of money I got busted down and spent the night in the brig.  Dont let extemests dictate your career and know that the majority supports you and the rest of our armed services.
