Man, have we not received a good bit of rain around the region? I know over the last couple of years we've been in somewhat of drought conditions, and it's good we're getting rainfall. But we're about to get too much rain.

On local TV weather tonight it was reported that a new all-time 24 hour precipation record was set at Tri-Cities Regional Airport with a little over two inches of rain measured. It literally rained all during the night last night and all day on Tuesday. It's still raining steady here at 12:19 a.m.

I guess the ground is saturated, because I've had a little water back up through the drain in my basement. I just hope the rain slacks off. Getting too much rain is just as bad as not getting any rain, at least that's how I look at it. It's not good when flooding occurs, and I saw on local TV that many parts of the region is under a flash flood watch.

It was getting bad around here around midnight. Josh left here about that time when they paged out the fire department to help move 2 families out on Stoney creek last night.  Moved what they could to higher ground.

When they went in, the water in one place was about 3 inches deep,  when they came out it was up on the bottom of the doors on the fire department truck he drove.  He said the rumbling and roaring of Stoney Creek was getting louder and louder while they worked.  They all were thinking about that July night when the raging water came down from the mountain and took a life.

When he returned home this morning he said Stoney Creek was rising pretty quick. Cove creek was also coming up fast. Two set of tiles below us was clogging up and turning water out into in road when he came in.

No school here today.

I dropped the little one off at my in-laws house this morning in Abingdon.  The North Fork Holston River is right behind their house.  It is out it's banks and up in their yard about 30 feet or so and it is still rising.  The good thing is they are calling for the rain to stop today some time so hopefully it won't get too much higher.  I hope it doesn't get up in to their outbuildings.

Went to help my cousin move his cattle earlier out of the field next to the creek. It was beginning to get in the field when we got there. We moved 20 head of cattle, 7 or 8 was small calves. He was afraid the calves would get to close to the banks and be swept away.

It has been sleeting and flurring off and on since about 12. Hard gusting winds made the sleet sound like BB'S hitting the house. At least the wind is drying the ground out now.

Snow expected tonight. Even Mark Reynold's is forecasting some and he is very cautious when it comes to forecasting snow.

South Chickamauga Creek in Chattanooga, which over ran its banks in 2003 and caused a huge mess, is up moderate flooding which is above flood stage. It is expected to still climb until tomorrow morning when it will begin to recede. It actually has levees around it and pumping stations to pump out flood waters.

I'm trying to find something on the level of the TN river but can't find anything yet.

I sure was glad to see the rain stop, because as I'd previously mentioned, I had a little water seeping up through the drain in my basement.

Whew, the wind today was unreal. From midday on the temperatures steadily dropped. About 3 p.m. it began sleeting little ice pellets. It was wild looking out on the deck and seeing the ice pellets bouncing.

It will be interesting overnight and into tomorrow morning to see if we receive snowfall.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr, Mark Reynolds on WJHL TV 11 just said next week temperatures in single digits, and also chance of snow.

It's well documented I don't like COLD weather. Snow, I could really care less. I will say, I still like getting out driving and sliding around in the snow ... like me and my buddies did back when we were younger.

I just wish it could snow and be 50 degrees or so, and not have to be freezing.

Hey "WOO-WOO," "SpeedRacer" and "susieqtoo" I know y'all must be cooking something good for supper tonight. Myself, I've just finished off a couple of microwavable dinners. And really, they're actually pretty good. And to top it off, I'm fixing to eat a piece of rum cake my neighbor made. I love her rum cake, it's yummy good.

We got a ton of rain from christmas to new years melted all that snow lots of wet basements and high water levels but that has subsided.  The snow has begun anew again with a little freezing rain just to make it all interesting.

Local TV news/weather reported that a little over three inches of rainfall was recorded at Tri-Cities Regional Airport at the National Weather Center.

I saw where the Northeast U.S. received a good bit of ice.

I put some trash outside a few minutes ago and whoa, the wind is still blowing like crazy.

No big supper here tonight RW!! Had BLT's!!! Tomorrow planning on making a pot of beef-vegetable soup.Had to do a little running today with this knee and didn't feel like stand long this evening.  Got to get out of the big leg brace yesterday. Have a bendable knee brace with side stabilizers on now.

Had big fat snow flakes hitting the storm door just a little while ago. Wind was gusting. Deck and vehicles were white in no time.  Just wish the wind would quit. Seen were that had a hard gust up SpeedRacer's way today. Hope Lynn didn't end up in the next county!!

They were calling for Bristol to get up to 2 inches early this morning and it may have happened had the ground just been colder so that the snow would have stuck. So Mark Reynolds, Dave Dierks, and the NWS were all wrong. lol

When I woke up and saw green outside on the ground, I was quite agitated.

Speaking of meteorology, I'm thinking I may want to pursue becoming a weatherman. Although print journalism is my thing, with the way the newspaper industry is heading I've been considering other things such a either being a weatherman or shooting for a production job in local broadcasting like news director, producer, etc.

Who knows, maybe everyone will be cussing my forecast in the future. lol
