I bought an old mercury coupe at an auction on the weekend.  I am told it's a 1946 but I'm not too sure complete with flathead, trans and diff.  Since I think this will be my 30 year project but because this is before standardized VINs I am looking for any helpfull sites or info.  The car is a two door with roll down back seat windows

Thanks, project is a good word for it.  I suppose I could do it as an old race car then I wouldn't need to worry about trim, interior or fenders but i would like to be able to drive it.  Just trying to find info wherever I can.

My Dad had a 47 Ford coupe, a very similiar car.  Got a newer car by the time I turned 6, but I still remember riding in that red 47.
