I just can't understand this call...an 80% Vinatieri is better than anyone, I don't care how good a season Stover has had.

Well, most definitely Adam Vinatieri is a good kicker. And Matt Stover's also had a good career, too.
 
I guess I can kind of see Colts coach Jim Caldwell's dilemma in deciding who will kick. I assume it must be totally based on Caldwell's, and I guess team doctors, thought that Vinatieri's just not healthy enough.
 
As "BugMan" said, an 80 percent healthy Vinatieri is a dang good kicker. And definitely better than some kickers this year in the NFL. Some of my buddies and I have talked about just how bad kicking has been this year in the NFL. Look at the Dallas Cowboys, for instance, and how they struggled with place-kicking.
