The 2010 season schedule for the Rolling Thunder Modifieds took a historical step forward today as the series announced that they will hold a 50-lap event at the venerable North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Closed in 1996, North Wilkesboro was a charter track of NASCAR and was closely tied to the origins of modern-day stock car racing with many of the sport's most revered names finding success at the 5/8th mile oval. After 14 years of dormancy and numerous attempts of reopening, the track "Where it all began", will roar back to life with a handful of events in the second half of 2010.
RTM will be participating in the Short Track Shootout Weekend on October 30th; along with Late Model Stock Car (150 laps), Limited Late Model (75 laps), United States Super Truck Series (75 laps), Street stock (50 laps), UCAR Clash Series (40 laps), and the Allison Legacy Series (35 laps)
The Rolling Thunder Modifieds are both honored and excited to be apart of North Wilkesboro Speedway's triumphant return to life and look forward to bringing the unique style of open-wheel modified racing which has made our tour popular among other tracks. We hope that all IMCA-type drivers from across the country will look at our rules package and come to participate in this historical event.
