Two Crew Members Suspended for Violating Substance Abuse Policy

NASCAR announced Tuesday that two NASCAR crew members have been suspended indefinitely for violating the sport's substance abuse policy.  Matthew Huffstetler, crew member for the No. 01 team in the Camping World Truck Series and William Keith, spotter for the No. 38 team in the Sprint Cup Series were found in violation Friday, March 5th at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Both crew members were in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) in the rule book.

Keith is the former brother-in-law of Jeremy Mayfield, notable for giving a deposition in the case. In it, Keith claimed he saw Mayfield take methamphetamines several times.

We had not seen or heard from Mr Huffsteter since our return from Daytona and consider him no longer part of our program," said Miss Ramirez. "We condemn the use of any illegal substances and consider it a privilege to participate in NASCAR racing," added Ramirez.
