It’s quite a unique design but it so clearly looks like the World Trade Centers when they were attacked by terrorists on 9/11/01. Is this building – which is still on track for construction in South Korea – a purposeful slam on America?

Is it a celebration of the terrorist attacks which killed 3,000 innocent Americans?

Below is an artist's concept of the building:

And how much money do we send to South Korea every year in foreign aid?

I have no idea if it's symbolic of the attacks or not but nonetheless those are two ugly buildings!

South Korea has been a pretty steady ally for over 60 years.

They've had troops in Iraq , Afganistan,  and at one period during the Vietnam war had around 50,000 troops in South Vietnam.

But I guess those good feelings toward America  isn't in the heart of every South Korean citizen.

Yep ... I agree .... those are two UGLY buildings.

And, it may actually be a totally original concept that the architect(s) and the planners designed, with no thought whatsoever given to any similarity between that design and the Twin Towers terrorist attack of 09/11/01 ..... but after they actually sat back and looked at what they had designed, one would think that common decency would prevail, and they would change their design just a bit.

There have been a lot of dual building skyscapers built around the world that are connected to each other half way up.  To save people time going from one building to the other.

That sure is a different way of doing it.

South Korea most definitely has been a steady ally for over 60 years.

My personal issue with the design of this structure is with the architect(s) and developers. It just happens that the structure will be built in South Korea, and when I saw the design of the structure, I personally was offended. I only mentioned South Korea because that is where the towers will be built. The architect(s) and/or developers could be Americans for all I know at this point. (I plan to do some research.)  Unless this is a project  being developed and/or funded by the South Korean government, I have no issue with South Korea.  It may even be someone's warped idea of a tribute, but I just think that that the overall design is in extremely poor taste. I would feel the same way if it were being built in our own country.

Well ... I suppose that we can say, "You saw it here on RacersLounge before it hit the national media".   This building project is being talked about by the media this morning.  From what I have seen so far, many seem to be in agreement with my own personal feelings on it.

On Fox News this morning they did read a statement from the developers which said that they did not intend any disrespect and in fact they [the developers] do not see any similarity at all to the Twin Towers and that this is a totally original design in no way influenced by the events of 9/11 in the United States.

Ya think?

There's a very simple solution though, just tell the South Korean government that if that building is built we will withdraw our troops at the North Korea border and they can fend for themselves in case of an attack....problem solved.

I don't believe the developers statement that they didn't model this in any way after the Twin Towers for one minute. And I'm not shocked that someone has come up with this tasteless and disrespectful concept at all, its just part of the world we live in. They may be a good ally and they may have sent some troops to some hotspots in recent times, I'll give them credit for that. But lets not forget that if it weren't for American blood shed on their soil, those same people may very well be speaking Chinese and starving to death like their kinfolk in North Korea. Many of this nations finest men are leaving this world everyday that fought in "The Forgotten War", and the price they paid and the price that some of their friends that didn't come home paid is in my opinion worthy of consideration by the Korean government and its people tell these pinhead designers to take their project somewhere else. I'm with beckijtn on this one, if they can build this building in our face then they can fend for themslves on the border.
