The United States pharmaceutical companies are price-gouging for the cost of medicine. That's the bottom line. And doctor's offices push the new medicine. You'll never convince me there's not some kind of kickbacks going on between pharmacy reps and medical groups, like "Y'all prescribe your patients this new medicine and we'll take care of you."

Back the end of October, I went to my family doctor for annual physical. He wrote me a prescription for medicine he wanted me to try (regarding alleviating pain in my hip/lower back). Where most doctors nowadays email the prescription to your pharmacy, later that afternoon when I stopped to pick the prescription up at CVS, I was told my insurance wouldn't cover it.

I asked why and was given an answer, that the medicine was new on the market and there wasn't even a generic for it. Well stupid ol' me I then said, "Well how much will the 30 day prescription cost, I'll just pay for it." ... I'm thinking around $50 or $60 or maybe as much as $75. HA HA HA

The pharmacist kind of grinned and said, "Robert, a 30 day supply will cost you $6,400." I said "Whattttttttttttttttt????? Well forget that." HA HA HA

For 30 pills (one month), the cost of $6,400 - that's over $200 per pill.

I pulled away from the prescription pickup window at CVS and I called my doctor's office and talked with them, and told 'em the cost of the medicine.

And then you know what? I was told I could come by my doctor's medical group the next day and they'd give me a 10 day (10 pills) sample to try. And of course it's because the pharmacy reps give 'em to medical groups to distribute. Well I told the nurse, "I'm not coming to get 10 of those pills to try, because my insurance won't cover the medicine and I can't afford $6,400 out of pocket to buy it. So why should I even try the medicine?"

R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!!!!!

Hey "WideOne," that $7,500 you could really put on a good bluegrass concert for us all to enjoy. HA HA HA

Robert, I believe a Bluegrass concert would do me more good than what is ahead!

To beat it all, I saw on the news where the same drug company that makes the drug I need, has been selected to provide a facility in Holly Springs, NC to provide for pandemic drugs in case of a natural outbreak of some disease.  So, if they are willing to kill me for $7500 per month, I hope you guys never need them!
