  I have seen a brake bad worn till there was no pad left at all,  and the caliper piston was thru part of the backing too.

  They couldn't have had very good brakes,  and it had to be pretty noisy.

 

  And then I remember another,  that had nothing on one side,  and the piston was at a angle,  it had cut thru to the hollow part of the ventilated disc rotor. 

 

  Never underestimate some driver's abilities to ignore problems.
