First Step Into 2014 a Success for Kingsport and LPR
KINGSPORT, TN - It was standing room only on Saturday for the meet and greet at Kingsport Speedway. Drivers, fans and crewmembers from both Kingsport Speedway and Lonesome Pine Raceway gathered to hear plans on the 2014 season.
Excitement filled the air when it was announced that both speedways would operate under the same rules with Karen Tunnell taking the reins at both tracks. Tunnell is confident that the partnership will offer great opportunities. “These two tracks have worked against each other for so long,” said promoter Karen Tunnell. “Finally we are able to have the two [tracks] work together and it will provide an awesome opportunity for racers and fans.”
Along with the same rules at both tracks, the same officials will police the racing, insuring a level playing field for all. “Keeping the same officials allows everyone to be familiar if they travel to both tracks. It also helps us keep our rules the same at both places,” said Tunnell.
Kingsport Speedway will race on Friday nights, although it will begin with a Saturday event on March 29. LPR will begin its season in April and race two Saturdays per month. Multiple touring series and special events will also visit both tracks.
