Hey "BugMan," I agree with you. It gave me such joy seeing Nick Saban go down in defeat to Utah. And I mean Nick Saban, too. I cannot stand that cocky, arrogant, egotistical jerk.

When he came south to LSU from up north he brought with him an attitude. His attitude only became worse after he led LSU to the national title and decided to make the jump to the NFL. He couldn't get the job done in the NFL so he decided to come back to the college game, and to of all places Alabama.

Even though My Blood Runneth Big Orange for the UT Vols, I'm a student of the game and I like a lot of universities' athletic programs. I liked Paul "Bear" Bryant and all he accomplished during his illustrious career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M and Kentucky. And I hate seeing Saban at the helm in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama was shell-shocked when the Utes jumped out to the 21-0 lead. I loved seeing the look on Saban's face. WoooooooooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I pulled for all SEC teams in the bowl games, except for Alabama.

Now I hope Florida will beat Oklahoma and win the national championship.

Look below what I posted on Dec. 8, 2008 in this topic here on RacersLounge: http://www.racerslounge.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13485&PN=1

"What I really love is, one of my good friends is just as big a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide as I am of the Tennessee Volunteers. Just last week we were talking football, and Mike says he doesn't think Utah, Boise State or Ball State should be in the top 25, that they're on the level of junior colleges."

Mike wouldn't even answer his phone when I called him last night during the Sugar Bowl. I called him probably six times, and a few times I said "How 'bout those junior college wimps Utah, kicking Alabama's a-s-s!" HA HA HA HA HA HA

Ahhhhhhhhhh, he's a pretty good sport and I'll hear from him today. I'm sure he was devastated over his beloved Tide losing. I tell him all the time don't run his mouth and be cocky about the Tide and how good they are. I tell him he's just like his boy Nick Saban in running his mouth.

Yep...still heartbroken for "Satan" and his Tide this morning, LOL!

So do you think the mullets flipped their license plates back over to the "3" side before they headed out from the game or after they got home?

Well, I was rooting for BAMA only because they're in the SEC. But I really didn't care that they lost. It's sort of a win-win situation. Alabama loses-yay! Alabama wins-yay! Either way...

I've pulled for the SEC in all bowl games, except for the Sugar Bowl. And no way was I about to pull for Nick Saban.

Hey "BugMan," I've still not talked with Mike. I've called him on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and he won't answer. HA HA HA HA HA ... I'm sure he knows I'll be on his butt hard over Alabama losing to Utah.

Hey "BugMan," I'll settle for the Florida and Oklahoma score you posted.

I hope Texas beats Ohio State tomorrow night in the Fiesta Bowl. I like Coach Jim Tressel about as much as I do Nick Saban. I hope ol' sweater-vest Tressel gets his butt kicked by Mack Brown's Texas Longhorns. I'd love to see Colt McCoy throw for 400 yards and about four or five touchdown passes.

Well you got your wish. The lucky Lamehorns just got by the Luckeyes 24-21.

I don't understand your disliking of Coach Tressel. He's one of the nicer guys in the game. I think his conference and his teams are overrated at times, but He's been a successful coach wherever he's been. Ohio State actually went out on a limb in my opinion when they hired him a la Kiffin at Tennessee. Tressel however had tremendous success at 1AA Youngstown State, taking the Penguins to the promised land several times...a few of them at the expense of my Thundering Herd.

Anyway, i like Tressel, but I am not a fan of Ohio State.

Jim Tressel has been one of the best and most successful coaches in NCAA for the past 7 years now. Since 2002, Tressel has a 76-14 record while leading Ohio State to 1 National Championship and 6 BCS bowl games. His team also finished in the Top 5 in the country on five separate occasions from 2002-2007. In addition to that, as BugMan stated, Jim is one of the nicest coaches in NCAA football today.

Then again, I don't have much room to speak since I am not a fan of Pete Carroll. I think it had to do with him coaching both the Jets and Patriots in the same division that my beloved Miami Dolphins were in during the late 1990s. Heck, ol' Pete is even a very well known philanthropist, including his efforts to help reduce violence in the the Los Angeles area. If you combine that with his amazing 82-9 coaching record since 2002, the fact that he can take a joke as well as plan one (a la Will Ferrell), and his ability to lead his team to victory against almost any foe; it's hard to believe that I don't like him.

Actually, I think it's USC that I don't like. Perhaps it's Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Matt Cassel that I don't like. Although, I cannot stand Tom Brady, so maybe Cassel should be taken off of that list. Let's just put it this way, if Carroll was coaching for a different team, then I could probably pull for that team. I would still pull against USC.

I like the Underdogs...go UTES!

I just wished it was Tennessee the Hokies were going to pound Labor Day weekend in Atlanta instead of Alabama....

Actually, it will be cool to see how VT stacks up against "Bama. Both teams have a lot of starters coming back in '09.

OMG, LOL!!!!

You can't be serious Kenny...VT is like Kentucky to Tennessee...don't matter how bad the season went, they always beat em. They're both "o-for" the last several decades eh?

ROFL ROFL!!!!

For the record, I do root for the Hokies...except when they play the VOLS or my Marshall Thundering Herd; which has played more like the "Blundering Turds" the past 4 seasons, GRRRRRRRR!

First of all, let me say I give credit where it's due ... and Jim Tressel is a good coach. He's been a winner all along the way during his coaching career. But his attitude at times, I despise it. I've seen interviews with Tressel and he comes across as a smart-aleck.

Indeed, while coaching Youngstown State the school became a powerhouse in NCAA 1AA football, winning national titles under Tressel.

What about some brushes with NCAA sanctioning at The Ohio State under Tressel. The program's been looked at. But, really, when it comes right down to it most any university could be looked at by the NCAA.

Look back to when Maurice Clarett played for the Buckeyes, and he (other players too) almost got the school sanctioned by the NCAA for accepting improper financial assistance from athletic boosters. And you can't tell me that Tressel didn't know about Clarett's and other players' over the years being involved with boosters.

Look back over the past two years, The Ohio State has lost BCS bowl games to Florida and LSU ... and might I say they got soundly beaten in both games. And then last night, the Buckeyes go down in defeat to coach Mack Brown's Texas Longhorns. But the game had me quite worried.

I thought The Ohio State was finally going to snap their BCS bowl losing streak. When the Buckeyes went ahead 21-17, with under two-minutes remaining, I thought it was going to be very tough for the Longhorns to march down the field and score a touchdown. But behind Colt McCoy they had a impressive game-winning drive.

I will say, on the 4th-and-three ... I'm not so sure Texas got the first down. They definitely got a good spot by the referees.

But here's where The Ohio State Buckeyes stand: They're losers of three consecutive BCS bowl games. And furthermore, the Big Ten went 1-6 this year in bowl games. I love it, where all you hear is the Big Ten plays "smashmouth football" ... well, it's more like the Big Ten gets their mouths smashed when they attempt to play big-time football.

And will someone please tell Joe "Pa" Paterno it's time to retire and sit on the porch in a rocker. But Paterno isn't going to retire, unless Bobby Bowden retires. Paterno doesn't want to let Bowden pass him as college coaching's all-time winningest coach. Bowden won't retire either, he's wanting to overtake Paterno.

I just cannot stand looking at those ugly Penn State uniforms. Too plain, the blue and white. Paterno (when he's on the sidelines) always turns the bottom of his pants up to make a cuff, and that irritates me. Ol' Joe Pa needs to get with the current time, and wear sporty athletic apparel.

In the grand-daddy of them all, the Rose Bowl, USC easily beats Penn State. In the Fiesta Bowl, Texas sends The Ohio State back to Columbus as losers.

Now if the Florida Gators can just beat Oklahoma on Thursday to win the national championship, I'll be satisfied. But the coach Bob Stoops led Sooners are a very good team, they can definitely put some points on the scorebaord. If I'm not mistaken, they set an NCAA record this season for most points scored.

Bantering back and forth about college athletics is what it's all about. Supporters of their respective schools will always think their team can beat any other team. I always pull for my beloved Tennessee Volunteers. But I also have other teams I like, too. I hope the Vols can win every game, but if they don't ... I have other teams I also like. Really, I just love college football and basketball.

Hey Kenny, you don't even want the Virginia Tech Hokies to play the UT Vols. It wouldn't be a purdy sight, seeing your Hokies suffer defeat. HA HA HA HA

I have friends who attended Virginia Tech, and we argue over the Vols and Hokies. Personally I don't even think Tech is in the same class as the Vols. Sure, they're won the ACC before, but I don't think the Hokies have ever won a national football championship, and the Vols have. So as I tell my buddies, until the Hokies win a national football title, then they're just also-rans.

I will say this: I greatly respect Hokie coach Frank Beamer. He's a class act. A good man from all I've ever read about him.

GO VOLS!!!

I love the above comment, "BugMan." Even with the Vols having a bad season this year, I still believe they could've beaten the Hokies.

Look at the Hokies, getting matched up against Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl. What a pathetic BCS bowl game pairing. I don't believe the Big East even deserves a BCS bowl berth automatic bid.

The Orange Bowl was a pairing of the two weakest BCS eligible teams. Did you guys look at the stadium and see all the empty seats? Neither Tech or Cincinnati has enough fan support to travel and fill the stadium to watch their teams play in a bowl game.

Hey "Van_84," so in other words you wouldn't want me to buy you a USC Trojans football jersey? HA HA HA HA

I really believe here in the next year-or-two that USC's dominance might be challenged in the Pac 10 by coach Rick Neuheisel's UCLA Bruins. I remember following Neuheisel in his playing days, on into his coaching career. He got screwed-over while coaching the Washington Huskies by that idiot woman school president. She didn't like Neuheisel and Neuheisel didn't care for her. When it came to light that Neuheisel was participating in March Madness basketball pools, she saw her opening and pounced. Big deal, Neuheisel participating in a March Madness pool. What college basketball fan doesn't get in a pool during March Madness?

Who watched the GMAC bowl from Mobile, Ala., tonight? Wow, I don't know that I've ever seen it rain that hard. It's a good thing that field was field-turf, because a regular grass field wouldn't have held up. The field-turf was very saturated from all the rain.

On some of those close-up TV angles of the players, with the bright lights shining you could really see just how hard the rain was coming down.

Any opinions regarding Boston College firing coach Jeff Jagodzinski today? That's the craziest deal I believe I've ever heard of in college athletics. Boston College athletic director Gene Filippo told Coach Jags if he interviewed for the NY Jets head coaching position, he'd be fired. And Coach J interviewed for the position, and from what I've watched on ESPN today he's also a possible candidate for offensive coordinator at Seattle.

I just believe there were underlying issues between Filippo and Jags.

Just one more night before the national championship showdown between Florida and Oklahoma. To get me too the title game I'll watch Duke and Davidson (It will be interesting to see how Stephon Curry does) basketball tonight and then the Vols playing Gonzaga. I hope the Vols can win, but they'd better play much better than they did this past Saturday at Kansas. The Vols are just going to have to turn up their defensive intensity, they've just not played good defense this season so far.

You know what RW? I think I'll have to pass on the USC jersey offer, but thank you. HAHA! I've never been a big fan of dynasties (in sports) or monopolies (in business). Competition is fun, but battling for second place (much like the past 3 NASCAR seasons) gets old quick.

Anyways, I was actually in Miami, FL until about 2:30 this morning. I'll probably be heading back down there tomorrow sometime before driving back to Bristol on Friday. I sure wish that I had tickets to the big game though!

Hey "BugMan," did you watch the Vols blow the game against Gonzaga? Man, up by 13 early in the second half and then what do the Vols do? They stop playing defense (like they've done a lot this season), and also they can't hit a basket.

I can't believe J.P. Prince, him missing three basically layups in the paint ... all missed shots in the second half. And not just the shots in the paint, what about that airball 3-pointer he launched in overtime from over in the corner. That shot didn't even come close to hitting anything.

To be quite honest, Gonzage should've won the game in regulation. The Vols got a favorable call there at the end, because that should've been goaltending on Tyler Smith. His arm/hand was clearly up through the rim.

Enjoy yourself in the Sunshine State, "Van_84."
