The Radford highlanders locked up the Big South Tournament campionship with a huge win in the finals against VMI 108-94. It was one of their best seasons yet and they will try to see how far they can go in the NCAA tournament coming up soon...

Did VMI switch conferences in the last year or 2? I thought they played in the Southern Conference...

...or did Radford move to the Southern?

VMI moved to the Big South Conference. Mainly because VMI thought its athletic programs stood a better chance of competing for wins/championships if they vacated the Southern Conference.

Being a military school, VMI (like Army, Navy, Air Force and The Citadel), it's tough to get the blue-chip recruits.

Seeing in advance VMI would play Radford for the Big South title, I figured the Keydets would win. I watched them beat Kentucky at the start of the season, and I knew VMI had a high-scoring offense. But that big white-boy center for Radford, he's a bruiser. I believe I read where he was the Big South player of the year. I don't remember his name, though, it's a long name. Maybe Polish, or some other nationality? All that matters though, is he's a "baller." In the championship game, he had like 28 points and 16 rebounds.

As long as the players don't wear headbands or have tattoos all over them, I'm for 'em. I also don't like seeing players being cocky and mouthin' off, either.

I'm just sick and tired of looking at the above image(s) in athletes today. And I'm not alone if that way of thinking, either. It's just I'm publicly admitting it.

Just play the game!!! Let your "game" do your talking. I'm not for any kind of show-boating. I don't like seeing players/teams tryin' to show-up opposing players/teams. Win with CLASS!!!!! I like seeing well-coached teams that show discipline. It reflects well on the coach and also the school.

Even though I've never been a Dallas Cowboys fan (though I do pull for them these days, mainly because local boy Jason Witten plays for the Cowboys), I always admired the legendary coach Tom Landry. He was a class act all the way.

Hey "BugMan," I've heard inside talk that the Big South Conference might be a future home of the ETSU Buccaneers.

There's good schools in the Big South, football's not required for membership, plus travel to Big South schools makes more financial sense than travel for ETSU does in the Atlantic Sun.

Man...I must've been under a rock, cos I had no idea about VMI switching. Makes perfect sense though.

Regarding ETSU, I'm sure with Stanton at the helm their athletic department will just thrive

I'm glad to see Radford go to the NCAA tournament. Wonder how far they will make it? I watched the Radford game the other day on ESPN U and they have a great post player.
