BWAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Just read where oil futures went below $65 a barrel. That's a $5 dollar drop from last week! This is also the first 4th of July I can remember gas prices dropping.
Don't you just feel sorry for those oil companies who were making record profits over the past two years while the economy was tanking having to struggle with less profit?
BWAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I FEEL SO BAD FOR THEM, LOL!

What's wild is, this past Saturday before I headed to Volunteer Speedway, gas here in Johnson City was $2.45 a gallon. I filled-up at Food City in Jonesborough and it was the same price.
I get to Greeneville and look over at Wal-Mart as I get into town on Hwy. 11E, and gas was $2.28 a gallon. It was that price all through Greeneville even down to Mosheim. But as always, it was a little higher there at Exit 23 on I-81, at $2.39 a gallon.
So tell me, how can gas be priced at $2.45 here in Johnson City and $2.28 in Greeneville? Even on Monday, out here in west Johnson City where I live, it had only dropped to $2.41 a gallon.

For whatever reason, Greeneville and Elizabethton (and sometimes Colonial Heights) seem to always have the rest of East Tennessee covered on fuel pricing.
One thing I've thought about more than once is that there seems to be more competition in those markets with regards to the number of convenience stores per capita, possibly leading to some good old-fashioned strategy to draw more patrons in.
Not even counting the independents, there are 7 chains (counting the two major grocery store chains) I can count right off of the top of my head here in Greeneville. I usually try to buy Amoco, Shell, or Exxon because our 2 primary vehicles are Premium Unleaded only, and I have had some really bad problems, particularly with "Big Ben" when I fill up with the grocery store crud.
There is a huge difference in the quality of gas...don't believe it if someone states differently.

When I went to LPR this past weekend gas was $2.37 in Maryville. But, in Weber City it was $2.29 so needless to say I stopped and filled up after the race to take advantage of the lower price. As long as the recession is ongoing I doubt gas would get too much higher unless the refineries slowed down.....and I'm still waiting on President O' Bailouts energy policy, haven't heard anything yet that I took to be a definitive policy from his administration. In the words of Larry Kudlow regarding our own oil resources......"drill, drill, drill"!

... you may've missed then, Robbie, but Cap'n'Tax was passed by the House about 2 weeks ago and is now sitting waiting for the Senate to pass it whenever they deem fit. And with 60+ votes.... *gulp*

Where do you live "Brocephus?" Gas today here in Johnson City for regular grade is $2.36 most places. I actually notice at Wal-Mart it was $2.31 a gallon.
I was told in Kingsport at several locations it's in the $2.25 to $2.28 price range.

I was over in Kingsport today (Thursday) and I saw gas at different locations for $2.12 to $2.14 a gallon. Oh, I was POed, too!!!!
The reason why, a same convenience store (brand) here in Johnson City less than one-mile from where I live, regular unleaded is $2.29 a gallon. The cheapest I see gas here in town is $2.27 a gallon.
Rest assured, I'm calling the distributor on Friday and giving them a piece of my mind. I will NEVER purchase gas from this convenience store chain unless gas prices here in Johnson City are dropped to the same price-range as in Kingsport and Bristol. It makes no doggone sense to me how this distributor (which happens to be located on Hwy. 11E between Johnson City and Jonesborough) can allow its stores in Kingsport and Bristol to sell gas cheaper than within a couple of miles where the tankers haul it from here in Johnson City.
