I have fought and fought over the years to watch anything but Soccer. From the "Soccer Moms'" swivering mini-vans loaded with kids and women jawing on their mobile phones to the usual parents' (mostly Dads') living their athletic lives through their kids, hollering and screaming at their kids as if they should be the next Pele, it just irks the fire out of me.

For whatever reason, I just have to watch my USA team compete against the rest of the world in any sport. When the World Cup comes around, I almost always watch my country compete.

Yesterday, the USA got robbed of a victory over the smallest Nation in the world, Slovenia. With the score tied 2-2 and the USA on the move, one of our players executed a glorious kick that was easily tapped into the net...USA 3. Slovenia, 2! BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO! A mysterious foul that has still never been explained to anyone was called...nobody fouled, and to this moment, the African referee has still had no explanation as to why he blew his whistle, leading the FIFA World Cup brass to consider removing him form his position through the remainder of the competition.

Everytime I get a little turned on about giving the sport a chance, something goofy like this happens, or we just plain ole stink (which BTW is NOT the case this year).

Soccer is supposed to be the most popular international sport in the entire world. Why they don't have an in-game oversight program just miffs me to no end.

Now you know why many feel the way I feel about the sport. If you think the NFL, MLB, NBA, or College Football/Basketball programs and even Stock Car Racing have bad officiating, they are outstanding when compared to these nuts.

We'll probably make it on to the next round, but I'm just not sure I'll be watching. I have given this sport so many chances, but the nuttiest things always semms to happen to the US of A. It's a bunch of bunk if you ask me.

Well, I've all at once drawn a blank on what that doggone "tube-thing" those people create that buzzing sound. That's enough to make one not want to watch the World Cup, just having to listen to the hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-ing sound constantly.

And another thing a couple of my buddies and I have talked about, why is the World Cup being held where it is ... and it cold weather down there?

Hey Scott, I'm with you though on at least giving soccer a chance. After all, as you stated supposedly soccer is the world's most popular sport. I know it has the world-wide appeal, but I just flat-out do not care for soccer. The soccer players, hey, they've really good athletes. It takes a special skill to be able kick the ball while running around, and also the participants are in tremendous physical condition to be able run for 90 minutes up-and-down the field. Let the rest of the world be in love with soccer, it's not for me.

I agree Robert.

Back when I played high school sports, I was asked to play Soccer because not only did I play WR and Safety, I handled kick-offs and punts. They recruited me to be a goalie. I practiced with them a couple of times, but I just couldn't get into it at all, not to mention it was track and golf season, and there just wasn't enough time for "futbol", LOL.

I'm actually listening to those hideous horns now...why I have that on in the other room is beyond me...time to go change it to SPEED.

I watch any sport that our USA teams play. I missed the game this morning cause I was at work but a 1-0 WIN in overtime to advance on is sweet

James, I had the same experience learning hockey, but 5 minutes with a long-time fan changed all of the frustration and confusion.

Anyway, I'm sure this has much to do with "Icing" and "off-sides"...google it up, then sit back and enjoy next season.

I personally believe that Hockey players are the best conditioned athletes in the world. Think about it...they skate their collective arses off, never for more than 2 minutes or so, then go do it again a few minutes later...on skates!
