People that go to these things are nomore than Lab monkeys chasing bananas.. This is just degrating to the human race showing how selfish the lust of the flesh really is.. Nothing but the sin nature magnified.....

Although I do agree that there are better ways to spend a persons time than doing the Black Friday shopping, I also think you've used a pretty broad brush to judge people with. I would imagine that there were some good people mixed in with it that were trying to buy nice gifts for someone that they love. Not everyone was pushing and shoving. Yes, it has pretty much become a retail holiday, there's no doubt about that, but to say that everyone involved "are nomore than Lab monkeys chasing bananas" is grossly unfair. I wasn't in any of that mess and I don't plan on being in it in future years either but it's not my place to call anyone a lab monkey for choosing to be a part of it. Lab monkeys don't have a choice.

i'm sure part of what you said was true... but assaults, injuries and even deaths come from these things... sounds like fun to me... what i was claiming about lab monkeys, marketing to customers to cause such selfish actions out of people, some could say thats not the intent but they are drawing people to the stores in massive groves in panic mode to get the best deals no matter what the out come is from injuries to death.  The stores are the labs, marketing personnel are the scientists and the shoppers make themselves the monkeys chasing their bananas plain and simple. Might be  a bold even harsh statement but it is the truth..   maybe some were not pushing or shoving but I say they got pushed or shoved even stepped on. Even dangerous for the employees....and to call me on judging others you missed the intent of my comments; ( they are marketing specimens ) I am sure alot just went there to just shop normally as civilized people they just had to stay out of the way of the crazed mobs.

PHOENIX (AP) — Police in the Phoenix suburb of Buckeye are coming under fire for a video posted online Friday that shows a grandfather unconscious on the floor of a Walmart with a bloody face after police said he was caught trying to shoplift.

The video shows 54-year-old Jerald Allen Newman unconscious and covered in blood after a police officer took him to the ground Thursday night.

Officers in the video are shown trying to sop up blood as outraged customers yell expletives and say, "That's police brutality," and "He wasn't doing anything."

The man's wife and other witnesses say that Newman was trying to help his young grandson after the boy was trampled by shoppers, and only put a video game in his waistband to free his hands to help the boy.

A shopper in Los Angeles pepper-sprayed her competition for an Xbox and scuffles broke out elsewhere around the U.S. as bargain-hunters crowded malls and big-box stores in an earlier-than-usual start to the madness known as Black Friday.

For the first time, chains such as Target, Best Buy and Kohl's opened their doors at midnight on the most anticipated shopping day of the year. Toys R Us opened for the second straight year on Thanksgiving itself. And some shoppers arrived with sharp elbows.

On Thanksgiving night, a Walmart in Los Angeles brought out a crate of discounted Xboxes, and as a crowd waited for the video game players to be unwrapped, a woman fired pepper spray at the other shoppers "in order to get an advantage," police said.

Ten people suffered cuts and bruises in the chaos, and 10 others had minor injuries from the spray, authorities said. The woman got away in the confusion, and it was not immediately clear whether she got an Xbox.

On Friday morning, police said, two women were injured and a man was charged after a fight broke out at an upstate New York Walmart. And a man was arrested in a scuffle at a jewelry counter at a Walmart in Kissimmee, Fla.

Wal-Mart, the nation's biggest retailer, has taken steps in recent years to control its Black Friday crowds following the 2008 death of one of its workers in a stampede of shoppers. This year, it staggered its door-buster deals instead of offering them all at once.

Wal-Mart spokesman Greg Rossiter said Black Friday was safe at most of its nearly 4,000 U.S., but there were "a few unfortunate incidents."

The incidents were attributed to two converging Black Friday trends: Crowds are getting bigger as stores open earlier and stay open later. At the same time, cash-strapped shoppers are competing for deals on a small number of gifts that everybody wants — tablet computers, TVs and game consoles like Xbox, Nintendo 3S and Wii.

That's a shift from years past, when there was a wider range of must-have items.

"The more the people, the more the occurrences," said Marshal Cohen, chief industry analyst with market research firm The NPD Group

You are pulling out random instances of hostility and violence that were carried out by individuals. I agree with Robbie in that calling shoppers looking for the best deals "nomore than Lab monkeys chasing bananas" is a bit ludicrous.

A better summation would be to state that there were multiple isolated incidents of pure stupidity within the human population. Human beings assault, injure, and murder others for possessions every day. The people who would injure someone over a flat screen television, a Tickle Me Elmo, or something else on Black Friday would probably also be likely to attack you on any given day of the week.

Some people are idiots, plain and simple. I know plenty of people who went out for the Black Friday deals who are incredibly sane people and experienced no trouble whatsoever, other than parking & long lines. They are in no way lab monkeys.

The only Black Friday purchase that I made was online and it was an integral purchase for the expansion of my business. Personally, I don't like getting out into the crowds. I made it home from work around 3am and all of the customers that I dealt with last night were calm, courteous, and pleasant.

Just the ones reported so far.

"The people who would injure someone over a flat screen television, a Tickle Me Elmo, or something else on Black Friday would probably also be likely to attack you on any given day of the week."

I have to disagree about that comment to a point..LOL

5dirt, do you think the lady in L.A. only carries pepper spray with her when she goes Christmas shopping? Seriously? She was determined to hurt somebody (if she had to) to get what she wanted. It doesn't matter what day it was. My guess is that she's a thug from the get go. Retail did a whopping business on friday and if these few instances are all you can find, with the millions (yes, MILLIONS) of shoppers that were out there then maybe it's not as doom and gloom as you may believe. Has Christmas lost it's meaning in the retail fray? Yes it has, at least I think that's the point your making. Does that make those folks idolators? Well, if it does, then anyone that drives around looking for a lower gas price would be in the same boat. Or anyone that car shops looking for a better deal would be idolators too. ALL of them were looking for bargains, period.

How about the little boy that got trappled on, do you think the ones that done that go around stepping on kids? The idoliters are the ones in line of hundreds or even thousands of people trying to be the first 25 to get special marked items knowing good and well unless they fight for them they want get them... For you to assume price hunters that do this year round are the same as what i was talking about, noone has ever shoved me to look at a car on a car lot or cut across traffic to beat me to a gas pump.. As far as the lady with pepper spay in  L.A. California ( one of the high crime rate cities )maybe she rides the transit and carries it for protection and in the excitement of the moment she got out of hand and what if she might be in fact a pillar of the community.. not everyone that carries pepper spray are thugs.. brush.. brush.. brush...that is what i was talking about ....

Okay, so what's the solution 5dirt? Make it illegal to have early Christmas sales? Cancel Christmas altogether? Sit everyone down before the doors open and give them a nice pep talk about how to shop with class and etiquette? Look, the Black Friday stuff is not for me either but until someone comes up with a better solution it's gonna continue to be this way.I worked in retail in the 80's and 90's for nine years and the mall where I worked opened at 8am on black friday. There was no such thing as a 10pm opening on thanksgiving night. And guess what? There were still issues with people pushing and shoving and sometimes getting hurt. Again, I don't agree with it but it does happen.

So, what's your solution to the problem?

Moral conduct is the solution, respect to one another, but that is not ever going to happen on this side of life anyway... I guess we will do what we did this year Henry stay away from the stores.. We did agree on one thing it looks like... Peoples got to have it attitude is nothing but greed... I would rather pay more for something and have my dignity than act as some do just to get the deals...

I would much rather stay away then get involved in that mess. But, it's not my place to condemn those that do choose to take part in it, that's my whole point. It doesn't matter how much I disagree with that behavior, my best option is to stay away from it. But for those that do make a choice to participate, far be it from me to call them names or comapre them to lab animals. There is a song called "Bloodline" and there's a phrase that says "God loves the sinners more than the Christians do" and as a Christian I have to keep reminding myself that to condemn someone else is to condemn myself as well. And honestly, often times I fail miserably at it.

I wasnt condemning them, I wasn't sending them to hell. i was phrasing them in comparison calling them victoms of marketing falling pray to the hipe same as guinie pigs ( opps there I go again )...

Truth isn't condemning; Jesus exspressed that very plainly, I felt drawn to post this expressing my veiws to how this can cause bad actions from people and how it can magnify to a point of sin in a person's actions to hopefully reach at least one person to renew their mind and to think before doing something UNGODLY.. I crucify my flesh everyday to be a better person than I was yesterday and to do God's will in my life.. most of the times it takes boldness to do so speak on things others deem unchangable at least we should make an effort as Christians, The phrase you posted "God loves the sinners more than the Christians do" is very true: to love a sinner alot of times is to love the Christian that is sinning not just the lost souls. Maybe this has changed someones thinking the next time they go or think of going to one of these sales or anything else in life that brings on such outrageous behavior, if only one does change it was worth it......If I offended anyone with the comparisons that I used I wasnt calling black sales day shoppers lab monkeys as some took it to be I was reffering as victoms by reason.. that was not my intent to be name calling.... and the idoliters are the ones that think they just have to have  those deals or the world will come to an end ( that is idolizing and a sin )... not everyone that went shopping at that time did that...

Titus 2:12-15

New Living Translation (NLT)

12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. 14 He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

15 You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them. You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.

Titus 2:12-15

King James Version (KJV)

 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

 13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee

Titus 2:12-15

Amplified Bible (AMP)

12It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,

13Awaiting and looking for the [fulfillment, the realization of our] blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

14Who gave Himself on our behalf that He might redeem us (purchase our freedom) from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people [to be peculiarly His own, people who are] eager and enthusiastic about [living a life that is good and filled with] beneficial deeds.

15Tell [them all] these things. Urge (advise, encourage, warn) and rebuke with full authority. Let no one despise or disregard or think little of you [conduct yourself and your teaching so as to command respect].

Well said, Bobby. And that's all I'm going to say.

Welllllllllllllllllll, ....... I am going to say this.

I'm not going to quote Bible scripture or preach a sermon, or say people participating in Black Friday shopping are committing sin.

Comparing people participating in Black Friday shopping to lab monkeys????? I've heard it all now.

Be nice if people would read all that was written... Bible says you will recieve persecution, people will come to discourage you, speak against you for my name sake...( not in exact words )

Funny thing this morning I got up and watched a couple of preachers on TV and they were talking about how people get offended at the choise of words you use and totally miss the message being brought to them....

I welcome the criticism to help me in the future to select better words and phrases and be more clearer with the meanings.... but I will not be so politically correct that it waters down the meaning bringing it to no effect but I know no matter how much I try to not make an offence it will still happen the Bible explains that very clear...
