Who will play in the Super Bowl? I'd like to see the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. I've always been a big Steelers fan, and I sure hope they keep their momentum going next week and beat the Baltimore Ravens.
It's not really that I dislike the Ravens, I just cannot stand that "thug" Ray Lewis. He should be behind bars for his actions in Atlanta a few years ago following the Super Bowl down there and his involvement in a shooting with his entourage as they were all partying.
Yesterday was definitely "Upset Saturday," with the Tennessee Titans and also Carolina Panthers getting beat. I was really hoping to see the Titans and Panthers play in the Super Bowl. Even though I live in Tennessee, I'm not all that big a fan of the Titans. Because to me they're still the Houston Oilers, and I never liked the Oilers. Bud Adams owned the team when they were the Oilers, and he's the current owner. I just think the Titans should've completely gone away from the light blue color when they moved to Tennessee.
Anyway, next Sunday Pittsburgh will play Baltimore for the AFC title ... and Philadelphia will play Arizona for the NFC crown.
I hope Pittsburgh and Arizona win. I think Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is a class act, and he always takes time to mention the Lord and give thanks for all he's been blessed with.
But you know what? The Super Bowl could turn out to be the Battle of the Keystone State, if both Pittsburgh and Philly win.

When San Diego scored quickly today, I thought the Steelers might be in trouble. But in the second half it was all the Steel City gang, as they run over the Chargers to easily win.
The Ravens have an excellent rookie quarterback in Joe Flacco. The young man just never gets rattled. The Ravens defense is also tough, too.
But hopefully with the game being played in Pittsburgh, the home field advantage will help the Steelers. And I hope that also holds true for the Cardinals, as Philly will have to travel to Phoenix for the game.

Are you a longtime Steelers fan? Remember the punter years ago, Bobby Walden? That's my second cousin. He and my later father were first cousins. My dad was born and raised in Georgia, around Cornelia and Toccoa.
Bobby played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs before getting drafter by the Steelers, where he enjoyed a long career. I've got a few of his football trading cards.

You ever had the pleasure of attending a Steelers game? I only have once, but man, I loved it. I got to watch the Steelers play the Miami Dolphins at the old Three Rivers Stadium.
Just recently, I watched on the NFL Channel the playoff game with Pittsburgh featuring Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception." Oh, I can remember like yesterday watching that game years ago when it actually happened. I thought my mother was going to have a heart attack when I screamed out when Harris caught that deflection.
My dad's team was always Dallas, he like Coach Tom Landry. I liked Landry, too. He was a class act all the way. But I didn't pull for the Cowboys then, and I don't pull for them now. I never have liked how the powers-that-be have tried cramming the Cowboys down the American people's throats as "America's Team."
And I don't even care for current Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. He and George Steinbrenner are just alike.

I am a diehard Panthers fan! Have been since they came in the league. I was hoping for a Carolina - Pittsburgh matchup. I went to school with Heath Miller at Honaker High School. He was two years behind me. I am now rooting for the Steelers all of the way!

I been a Ravens for along time and I hate the Steelers. I can careless who plays in the Super Bowl long as Baltimore is there. Pitt and Baltimore has played 2 great games this year, 10-7 OT game won by Pitt then the 13-9 win by Pitt on what I still think was a bad call, the ball never broke the plane to the end zone but beating a team 3 times in 1 year is tough but I cant wait til Sunday it will be a great game by 2 great defensive teams

What a weird season this has been in the NFL.
First, Tom Brady goes down 20 minutes into the season, then Cassel leads em to 11 and 5 and becomes the 1st team since 1985 to not make the play-offs with that kind of record.
On the other hand (and in the NFC) the 8-8 Cardinals might end up in the Super Bowl. Weird? You betcha.
Then, with the exception of Pitt, the top seeds in this year's play-offs in BOTH conferences crumble like a pack of crackers, with the Titans and Panthers leading the way.
RW...Ray Lewis did his time for his role in Atlanta, and I think he's made the most of his life since. I do understand why you feel that way, being so perfect and all .
You still consider the Titans the Oilers...you are wayyyyyy too funny buddy! Do you still consider the Indianapolis Colts the Baltimore Colts, the Baltimore Ravens the Cleveland Browns, the St. Louis Rams the Los Angeles Rams, the Arizona Cardinals the St. Louis Cardinals, and last but not least, The Oakland, LA, Oakland, LA, Oakland Raiders, LOL?

I hope our Steelers can win RW. But just like Bobby said trying to be same team 3 times in one year is rough. Especially between these 2 rivalries. Ben and the offense need to run the ball like they did against chargers and if the D can keep pressure on rookie QB they will have a shot I think.
GO STEELERS.

This will actually be the 1st time this Cincy fan has ever rooted for the Steelers. The Ravens/Bowns lucked their way into this game...I hope Pitt "Steels" it from em!
I hope the Arizona/St. Louis Cardinals beats the Eagles. I'd like to see Warner win one for both the new and old St Louis teams RW, LMAO!!

I don't remember Ray Lewis serving time for his involvement in the shooting? Why of course he's made the most of his life since, but what about the loss of lives in the shooting? He was involved, whether directly or indirectly.
I, and I know others who feel the same way too, believe Ray Lewis just comes off with a thuggy image. He might be an Altar Boy away from the field, but I seriously doubt it.
Oh yeah, "BugMan." I'm definitely perfect ... NOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA

Well, let me also say I don't care for Titans owner Bud Adams. Because when the team was being renamed, a friend of mine developed a strong marketing campaign and had six meetings in Nashville with Adams and his staff. Sure, the NFL is big-time business. But when you give someone your word, aren't you supposed to stand behind what you say? Adams didn't stand behind his word (promise) to my buddy and others he was involved with regarding nickname for the Titans.
I could go on with more detail, but I won't.
"BugMan," I'm sure you were listening to Bill Meade back when he had who I'm talking about above on his radio show on several occasions.
I've got a hat/cap showing the logo/design proposed for the team. And to be quite honest, I feel it was more appropriate than the Titans.
Anyway, I don't care for Bud Adams.
Like "dirttrack63," I also pull for the Carolina Panthers. Here in East Tennessee, we're closer to Charlotte than we are to Nashville.

Hey guys, wonder what the Las Vegas odds would've been having the Eagles and Cardinals playing for the NFC title?
And I know the odds would've been tremendous against the Ravens making it to the AFC title game, with a rookie quarterback.
I know before the season began, a lot of talk had the Cowboys and Colts playing in the Super Bowl.
Not just the Ravens, but look at the turnaround of the Dolphins as they won the AFC East. Granted, Tom Brady went down and that hurt the Patriots. Ahh, the Patriots. I even believe if the Pats had gotten into the playoffs, they could've made some noise.
Look at San Diego, winning the AFC West with a five-hundred record.
Oh well, all that happened this year in the NFL just shows how unpredictable things can be.
It will definitely be interesting, though, if the Super Bowl turns out to be a batte for bragging rights in the Keystone State.

Hey Bobby, we all get along on here ... so it's OK for you to come out of the closet and admit to everyone you really are a longtime Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
I know you're a good guy, because you do like the Florida Gators. I pull for the Vols to win every game they play, but I also have lots of other teams I like too. I just like football and basketball, period.
About the Florida Gators, with them winning the national title last week that makes the last three NCAA national championships belonging to the SEC. Wooooooooooooooooooo-hooooooooooooooooooooo, but now look at basketball and in this week's rankings you will find no SEC team in the top 25. It's definitely a down year for the SEC on the court.

Hey "BugMan," I used to like the St. Louis Cardinals when they played in the old Busch Stadium. It's good seeing the team enjoy success now out in the desert.
If anyone doesn't like Kurt Warner (at least as a human), there's something wrong with you. He's a class act all the way. For him to have reached the heights in his NFL career is unreal, considering he played Arena Football and in NFL Europe.

Hey Bobby, I sure hope you live long enough to get old. I don't want you to be going to take a dirt nap on us anytime soon. I'd say your ways of looking at things will change as you get older.
Bobby, one thing with me as I've gotten older (now 50) is I've become much more conservative in the ways I think. When I look around today and see a lot happening in the nation/world, it really bothers me.
Some may agree with me and some may not, but my opinion is we definitely live in an immoral nation/world. I don't want to sound preachy, I'm just stating the truth.

RW you said New England losing Brady hurt them and I agree but they still went 11-5 but missed the playoffs. Baltimore was 5-11 last year then went 11-5 this year now are in the AFC title game. Even if my team loses we wasnt even close to the playoffs last year. I am glad Dallas didnt make the playoffs, I dont like them either.
As for college basketball, SEC is down but Jodie Meeks from Kentucky is burning Tennessee up right now

Wow, is Jodie Meeks on fire or what? He'd be burning the nets tonight even if the Wildcats were playing the Boston Celtics. Meeks has established a new all-time Kentucky scoring record. Congratulations go out to Meeks. The young man deserves recognition for his accomplishment of 54 points. The Wildcats beat the Vols badly!!!
Hey Bobby, notice in one of my previous posts I mentioned about Las Vegas odds. I'm sure they had to be huge against the Ravens making it to the AFC title game.

WOW Meeks went off in Knoxville. 2 school records was awsome. It actually felt good to see UK play well on the hardwood. He should atleast be nominated for player of the year.
I bet anybody who bet on Ravens making the AFC title game won alot of money wonder what the odd makers had Ravens vs Cardinals in Super Bowl?

Instead of calling it the Super Bowl, maybe this year's game will be called the "Battle of the Birds."
You've got the Eagles, Cardinals and Ravens in contention to make it to the big game.

Dubya,
That was not the first time an owner decided for himself what his team name would be after listening to presentations from other entities as to what the new nick would be. Even had they been called the "Copperheads", didn't the group propose a helmet that when seen at the proper angle would look like an oil derek? You'd have still had the Oilers, LOL!
Anyway, I didn't agree with it either, particularly when his reasoning for the name Titans was because Nashville had often been referred to as the "Athens of the South" because of its higher learning institutions, their replica of the Parthenon, and classical architecture.
Anyway, the bottom line was that it was his team and he can name it what he wants. The East Tennessee group was very creative, and they knew 2 things; one, they were making an investment in the hopes of making money and two, they lost. Speculative investing like that is risky even though the risk rewards are huge. I don't think it ruined them boys did it?
I think the snooty committee hurt the Copperheads because I believe they didn't convince Adams of how hard the group had worked and basically the only thing they had to do was award the nickname. Everything else had been done.
BTW, OUR bad on Lewis. It wasn't a shooting, it was a stabbing and he didn't serve time. I forgot that's why he has been called the "Obstructor of Defense" for all of these years. Anyway, he has been a model citizen since.
