Report: GM and Chrysler may be forced into bankruptcy
General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC may have to be forced into bankruptcy by the U.S. government to assure repayment of $17.4 billion in federal bailout loans, a course of action the automakers claim would destroy them. U.S. taxpayers currently take a backseat to prior creditors, including Citigroup Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs [...]

I'll tell ya something else.... The taxpayers in this country NEED to actually read the current economic stimulus bill and see where all that money is planned to be spent. The whole objective could have been accomplished for much much MUCH less if only there was a way the plan could have been put together without the involvement of politicians.

And, that's no joke.

Analogy..... You have a son or daughter in college. You and the son/daughter both know what their expenses are going to be. You give them cash and a credit card to get them through the semester, and tell them to manage their money. At the end of the first week the son or daughter calls you and says, "I have a problem. I've spent all my money and the credit card is maxed out". So, do you just give them a greater amount of cash and a new credit card? Nope.... most parents with a child in college understand what you don't do in such situations. In fact, most college students also understand. It's when politicians try to fix problems that all sense of reality is lost.

speed I wish you were in poilitics, lol there appears to be no common sense at all up there in washington. the poiliticians that were to vote on the stimulus package or at least a majority of them had not even read it through, look at the money we have spent on shrimp research over the last twenty years and you'll get an idea of where some of "our" money is going, it just makes me sick!

that's a good comparison with these companies, washington, and a kid in college, no sense of the value of money, and no appreciation for where it came from, bravo speed again!

Bottom line ladies and gentlemen nothings gonna change till we stop putting politicians in politics.  The best quote I ever heard on it was by James Carvil (probably misspelled the last name) he defined "politics" as follows "Poli- means many and of course    -tics are just a bunch of blood stinking parasites."  Everyone thought Obama was so great cause he was different from all the past presidents.  Well as I see it he is only different in one way and we all know what that is.  Otherwise hes just another crook in a tie and if this country is going to get anywhere we are going to have to find a better way of getting a selection of candidates for these elections.  We are headed down the tubes and fast and I really just dont see how giving more money to big companies and banks is gonna fix the situation considering they are who got us here in the first place.

Evidently, not all of us do...I don't get it.

Now "BugMan," as the song goes ... Barack Obama's a "Soul Man." HA HA HA HA

He's a man of color, the chosen one to lead all of his disciples. What really scares me is hearing some people comparing Barack Obama to Jesus Christ. That just makes cold chill bumps rise all over my body, hearing Obama mentioned in the same breath as Christ our Savior.

something about him reminds me of something out of the bible, but it has absolutely nothing to do with christ, he scares me, I won't say what I'm thinking, but I know I'm not the only one that feels that way

I certainly did not mean for my analogy post to be taken as negative against President Obama. While I did not vote for President Obama, I support him fully, and I only wish for him the greatest of success in his administration. However, it certainly appears that it took less than a week for President Obama's ideals and goals to get hijacked by certain members of the Senate and Congress.

Just some interesting facts concerning Congress..... We all know that the vast majority of members of Congress are members of the legal profession.... lawyers.... and we all know what happens when any lawyer gets hold of anything. It immediately becomes overly cumbersome and complicated. Did you also know that there are several other civilian occupations and areas of expertise represented in our Congress? The dominant declared profession of members in Congress is law, but it's hardly the only one. There's also: sixteen medical doctors, two veterinarians, an optometrist, four ministers, five Peace Corps volunteers, four sheriffs, a volunteer fireman, an FBI agent, three physicists, one microbiologist, a radio talk show host, a television reporter, five accountants, an astronaut, two professional musicians, a screenwriter, an NFL football player, three organic farmers, a ski instructor, a casino dealer, a waitress, a mortician, and a taxicab driver.

Wonder what the stimulus bill would have looked like if it had been drafted by one lawyer member, one medical doctor, one volunteer fireman, two ACCOUNTANTS, two ministers, two farmers, a Peace Corps volunteer and a cab driver?

Preach on brother Lynn, preach on. Spread the word.

I also didn't vote for Barack Hussein Obama, and won't again come four years from now, either.

The bottom line is, though, he's our president at least for the next four years. I don't wish him to do a bad job in office, because it will affect us all.

But I still believe a major reason he was elected is because of the color of his skin. I read and also saw pieces on TV that blacks who had never registered to vote their entire lives, registered just so they could vote for a black man.

All you'd hear from blacks was, "I never thought I'd see a black man elected president." I don't believe I heard the first black say "Obama was elected president because he was the best candidate."

Lynn, you really would make a good politician for your local county. At least the people would have an elected official that would always have their best interests in mind.

Exactly. Very well said, Robbie.

My opinion is, the UAW is a big part of the financial dilemma the auto companies are in. It's like the UAW holds the auto companies hostage in negotiating for the auto workers. That's why the price of new vehicles is so much. Auto worker wages/benefits are too high, which gets passed along to the customers.
