Breaking News: Lane Kiffin's Letter of Apology to Urban Meyer Leaked
By R.K. McCoy
Dear Urban,
It’s the Kiff here. My boss told me that I needed to apologize for calling you a cheater, so here's the best I can do: You are welcome.
C’mon. You have to be grateful for the tidal wave of compassion you’ve gotten. Not only do you return an insanely talented defense, but you also bring back the quarterback-cyborg that is Tim Tebow. Add to all that two National Championships and your prime location in the nation’s recruiting hotbed, and yet you’re coming off as the victim in this situation. Crazy, huh?
Have you ever been to Tennessee besides when you play us? It’s not exactly flush with football talent. I’m plowing through scouting reports of Jim Bobs and Bubbas. Phil didn’t exactly leave me with a stocked fridge (and that metaphor extends both literally and figuratively in case you were wondering).
So of course I’m going to come out guns blazing. I’ve got to get us back on the map. I mean, you saw our QBs. Jonathan Crompton? Really? Peyton Manning isn’t exactly walking through the locker room door.
But admit it. You like it. You need it. Do you really want to be the guy who tries to throw down with Mark Richt? That’s like wrestling a Tibetan Monk. Face it, Urban, I’m the most refreshing thing since the Tim Tebow circumcision story broke last fall. The Florida Gators and this conference deserve a better class of antagonistic coaches, and I intend to be that guy.
Be honest: When Phil was the coach, did you really feel challenged? Did you feel validated as a coach for beating a guy who was more familiar with a post-game spread than a spread offense?
I mean, I guess it was nice to beat Grandpa Spurrier now that he has one foot in the tee box, but please don’t tell me that you feel a sense of accomplishment for beating the ghost of Gators past.
You and I both know that you are one more National Championship away from shoving Charlie Weis out of South Bend and fleeing the mullet-headed mouth-breathers filling up the Swamp. With me around, though, you’re having second thoughts. Think of the pride you’ll feel in tangling with my dad’s proven pro-style defense. Kind of overshadows feeling good about torching Hawaii and the Citadel's defense huh?
Sure, you have Nick Saban as a formidable opponent, but he’s out West, and you guys may tangle once a year if all the stars align and everything goes according to plan. I give you the guarantee of a royal rumble every year and early on.
I know I come off a little chirpy, but you’ve got to like that I’m not so eager to kow-tow to the wave of Olympic-caliber sprinters you’re rolling out. Whether you like it or not, you're the Yankees now. You're the man, the establishment. Florida is Cobra-Kai now. You're John Kreese, and Timmy T is Jonny Lawrence. I am Daniel-San, and my dad is Mr. Miyagi.
And you know what, Urban-Myth? You may try to sweep the leg, but I plan on crane-kicking you and Timmy right in the face.
But that's not all, Urbie. I’m coming into your backyard. I’m going after your recruits, and I swear to Pete Carroll that if we are bombing you by 40 and I have all of my timeouts with less than a minute left, I will call all three timeouts while Ed Orgeron power-bombs Albert the Gator and the entire team gets Kiffy with it in the end zone. I have never been more serious about anything in my life.
Anyways, I've got to run. Got a study session on SEC rules and regulations. Nu'Keese and Marsalis send their best.
Subversively yours, The Kiff

Looks like the "Chokies" lost to my beloved Cavs! You would think a team that stinks as bad as my Cavs this year wouldn't have a chance but what do I know. Looks like my Cavs wanted to eat some Anchokies! HAHAHA!

Most definitely, the Vols got embarrassed big-time Saturday up in Lexington at the hands of the Wildcats. The Vols were their own worst enemy.
I listen to sports talk radio all the time when out in my vehicle during the daytime, and I read a lot of sports Web sites and blogs. UT men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl has a bunch of out-of-control "thugs." They're un-coachable.
Some stuff I've even heard and read, it relates to where Pearl's personal live is even playing into the scenario with the performance of the team.
The Vols have 16 wins and 10 losses, but their RPI is very good. The Vols have played the nation's toughest ranked schedule.
Tennessee has four regular season games remaining, against Mississippi State (Wednesday night), Alabama, South Carolina and Florida. If the Vols want to make it to the Big Dance, they must win at least two of the games listed above ... and their opening round SEC tournament game. Nineteen wins will get the Vols into the NCAA tournament.
Hey Robbie Henry, I'd like to hear your opinion about the Vols.
Also, it's not just the men's team ... but the Lady Vols are definitely having a bad season. When a Pat Summitt-coached team is ranked 18th, that's bad in Rocky Top. Sure, it's a very young team and this season is one where the freshmen are getting experience. But some of the just mental mistakes the girls are making is unreal. I don't watch from beginning to end the Lady Vols games, but I do flip channels and watch some ... enough to see where Summitt's about to stroke-out over on the sidelines. HA HA HA HA ... There last week, when the Lady Vols lost up at Kentucky, I though the veins in Summitt's neck were going to burst. She was screamin' at those girls.
GO VOLS!!!

Actually there SOS is 2nd and their current RPI took a bad hit, going from 18th to 25th.
I don't think they're thugs...I just think they're a young team. I think some people don't like all of the tatoos and that plays a contributing factor in whether someone thinks another is a thug these days. If that were the case, every basketball team would have at least a couple!
As for Coach Pearl, fans are doing what they've done for years when a coach has a bad season, they start crying about his salary and his personal life. Yes, Coach Pearl has a live-in girlfriend and yes, Coach's ex-wife opened up a West Knoxville salon called "Alimony's". It's simply the nature of sportsfans (Tennessee fans moreso than others it seems) to blame everything but the fact that no team is going to be good every year.

Maybe using the word "thugs" isn't appropriate, but I've heard that word used by several people in describing this version of the basketball Vols. I've even heard the word "thugs" used by callers on Bill Meade's Sportsline talk show, haven't you "BugMan?" I know you listen. I've heard people complain about the appearance (tattoos, headbands, etc.) and what it projects, coming across to some as projecting arrogance or cockiness.
There's nothing you can do about someone getting tattoos, it's their body. But the headbands, I cannot stand them. I've even heard comments lately from Dick Vitale, Bobby Knight and Jay Bilas regarding headbands, and how they don't like players wearing them.
The deal regarding Pearl's personal life, is that a possible distraction with the team? I don't know. But it's definitely getting talk circulating.
It's also a fact that Pearl's ex-wife's business is attracting attention, too. I need to go back and find the comments on one of the sites I look on, and it says Coach Pearl's kids aren't very fond of daddy's girlfriend. I'd say not, being he divorced their mother. Or their mother divorced him, whichever it is/was. I'm sure the ex-wife was well compensated, well enough to open a business called Alimony. HA HA HA HA

Oh yeah, while it wasn't pretty, at least the Vols did beat Mississippi State tonight.
"BugMan," did you watch? Could you believe there with under 10 seconds remaining that stupid foul by Bobby Maze on the 3-point shot attempted by the Bulldogs? If I could've thrown my remote control through the TV set and hit Maze in the head, I would have. Was that just sheer stupidity on Maze's part, or was it poor coaching? Pearl and the assistants should have been screamin' at the players to not foul. The last thing you want to do is send State to the foul line for three free throws, and the clock stopped.

They're a confusing bunch aren't they.
They're going to have to somehow find the team concept along with some , which they just don't have.
They also have no leadership. You would've thought this was Tyler's team, but he obviously doesn't want that role or he'd have jerked the proverbial knot a long time ago.
