For many years, David Feherty has been one of my favorite sports announcers. To have the talent to make the game of golf exciting on television is exceptional.
He does alot of it with humor. A couple of days ago, a few politicians got their feelings hurt due to some comments he made regarding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
I didn't see anything wrong with what he said. It was in the context of humor, and it should've been taken that way, but nooooooo!!! The politicians just have to make a big deal out of it. Face time on TV and other media ya know.
Here's the link, courtesy ESPN.com. What do you think?

Personally, I prefer hearing Jim Nantz, Verne Lundquist and Nick Faldo commentate during golf telecasts. It's not that I don't like David Feherty, I just don't really care much for his attempt at humor. Generally when I hear Feherty, I just try to block him out.
I hope others take the time to read the piece on ESPN Web site, it's interesting to say the least. With that said, I'm just not real sure how to take what Feherty said. And there again, even when listening to him on the golf telecasts, I don't really know how to take his attempt(s) at humor. I don't find him funny/humorous, that's the bottom line.
I applaud his involvement with "Troops First Foundation" and him going to visit the troops in the Mideast, that's quite commendable on his part. Feherty said his trips to Iraq the last two years over Thanksgiving to meet with the troops was an experience that moved him to the point that he has applied for U.S. citizenship.
But, I don't agree with some of the comments I just read in the column attributed to Feherty.

I guess you guys also read the Associated Press article with Feherty apologizing for his comments, and he was also going to apologize to whom the comments were regarding.
Oh yeah, "BugMan" ... I like hearing Verne Lundquist, whether it's football, basketball or golf he's doing. I guess I like hearing his "grandfatherly" type voice.

Now "BugMan," would it be safe to assume you're just blockin' my comments about David Feherty out??? HA HA HA ... That's kind of my take, and also a couple buddies of mine who've read this topic. I told them it's no big deal, because me and ol' "BugMan" are buddies and it's OK if we don't agree on issues.

Hey, I'll talk you into liking to hear Verne Lundquist when you talk me into liking to hear David Feherty. Deal??? HA HA HA HA
Seriously, I don't really no what it is, but I just don't care for Feherty's humor. I'm not saying he's not a funny guy, I guess he is. But I just don't care for his humor/jokes. That doesn't mean I think he's a bad guy or anything, though.
Heck we're all different, I realize that. I like Craig Ferguson, who comes on after David Letterman. But I don't know of anyone else who care for Ferguson.

Oh I like Ferguson. I think he should be on in place of Letterman.

Craig Ferguson is the best of the late night comics in my personal opinion. I agree with Bug.... Ferguson should be on IN PLACE of Letterman. Letterman isn't all that funny, and he has a single focus agenda.

I guess it's unanimous, Craig Ferguson will be David Letterman's replacement. Guys, you reckon the powers-that-be at CBS will listen to us? HA HA HA
I'm serious, all my buddies think I'm crazy for liking Craig Ferguson. I think he's a funny guy!!!
I always watch just as soon as Jay Leno comes on to see who his guests will be, then quickly flip to CBS and see who will be on Letterman. Then between midnight and 1 a.m., a lot of time I'll watch Jimmy Kimmel if he's got people on I'm interested in.

Agree James K. I don't think it's you.
His treatment of several guests, Bill O'Reilly inparticular, is tacky.
I'm interested to see if this Leno/ O'Brien experiment is going to work. I personally think it won't. Conan is another one that you either ROFL at or just kind of sit there and stare at the tube, asking yourself "Why would they even think that is funny?".
