The BBC reports today that the year with the highest global temperatures is, of course, 2008...No? 2007? Nope. 2006? Try again.
Actually, 1998 was the warmest year on record.
Hmmm, how about that - wasn't Miami supposed to be underwater by now? Global temperatures are not rising, but there is one thing that is rapidly increasing: Al Gore's net worth. In 2000, the former VP was worth about $2 million. Now he's worth over $100 million and stands to make much more off new 'green' technologies. Just another case of Jack and his magic beans, apparently. ( STORY)

HA HA.... Some time back I read the story on that particular photo. It was sort of a staged photo in that it just happened that the polar bear (obviously the "prankster" of the group) had gotton on to that small piece of ice and it made a good "political statement" after the image was cropped. I'll try to locate the uncropped image again, because right next to it was the edge of a rather large mass of polar ice with quite a number of polar bears on it, and you could see nothing but ice and "white" for quite a distance toward the horizon...... A little photo cropping of the right image can make a powerful statement.

Yep.... or so Al Gore says.....
It just isn't fair to Al Gore they way they did him in the written history of the Internet. If you read the history of the Internet, they didn't even include the man who created it in the footnotes.
Young Al Gore was a super intelligent young man, too. Since he developed the concept of the Internet before J.C.R. Licklider, of MIT who published his "Galactic Network" concept in August, 1962... Al Gore was no older than 14 years of age when he actually came up with the original idea.

It was 1967, the year I graducated from high school, when MIT's Lawrence Roberts presented his plan for what he called the ARPANET. If Al Gore helped Roberts develop that concept, he would have been a little over 18 years of age when the paper was published.
Gore was a sharp young man.
