Coca-Cola's ridiculous Polar Bear campaign

One of America's favorite soft drinks, Coca-Cola, has partnered with an alarmist eco-group to try and help save the polar bear from supposed extinction. There are a few problems with this campaign. First of all, it's not even correct that polar bears are in decline. The statistics show that the polar bears have increased population five fold in the past several years. Secondly, how does it affect anyone's life in any way if polar bears go away? Isn't this a good thing for all the cute seals?

I used to be a part of PETA, but I got kicked out for making the following joke at one of our meetings:

"A baby seal walks into a club..."

I am not sure that you actually caught the humor ... but, YES, I was "kidding".

The news was real. Coca-Cola really has joined forces with one of those alarmist eco-groups for the save the polar bear campaign.

I was just trying to put a humorous spin on the big news which had been released by Coca-Cola PR.  In reality, I do not drink Cokes myself, so it would be hard for me to actually stop drinking a product I don't drink.

I can see how they could get a fairly accurate count of the polar bear population now with satalite imagery,  and infrared film.   But how did they do it in the past ?   I can't imagine somebody walking around on the icepack and counting,  I think that would tend to be a job with a lot of turnover.

Right on Tom .... The studies have shown that the polar bear population has increased by a factor of five over the past several years, so it's really hard to buy the concept that the polar bear population is becoming extinct. I agree with you that the "polar bear counter" job had to be a high-turnover position back in the day.  LOL
